Bernie goes off on Congress for enabling Big Pharma price gauging. "And we know reason why," he said. The "power and wealth of the pharmaceutical industry and their 1,300 lobbyists and unlimited sums of money have bought the United States Congress." He even quotes Donald Trump:

Trump says pharmaceutical companies ‘getting away with murder’, Raw Story, January 11, 2017

Even Rand Paul and Ted Cruz voted for it. Jimmy Dore goes over the list of Big Pharma's "Top Senate Recipients Funded":

I hope that they would succeed.

It shouldn't be a surprise that Rand Paul voted in favor of this bill as he's an unapologetic supporter of free markets.

The reason why healthcare costs in America are so high is not because of free markets, but because of a lack of them. The failure of this bill to pass is just one example of how government interference tends to drive up costs.

This is true. It's protectionism for the pharmaceutical industry.
