Lets be real here.. the notion that such an idea would even be proposed by the president was outright silly from the beginning. I know, people are going to rationalize why it wasn't silly paranoia on their part, but the reality dictates otherwise. It was never going to happen

Now its time to move onto the paranoia of a president Trump moving to outlaw all abortions, and pretend the same thing wasn't said about the Bush presidency

Yes, but now they'll say we're paranoid for suggesting that Trump will put all the blacks in chains and gas all the gays.

The inability to accomplish a goal should never be confused with the desire to make it happen. And let's not forget after heller in most respects the government's hands were tied until they could get enough leftists on Scotus to over turn Heller. Over the years however Scotus has allowed more and more common sense controls of abortion clinics.

A "desire to make it happen" ought to have actual actions associated with it if it has any veracity.

He couldn't get the one last supreme court Justice he needed. Fast and Furious was an attempt to drive the gun control debate towards the pro side, as was his attempt to politicize every mass shooting outside of Chicago.

He proposed banning some guns including handguns during one of his discussions before his election. We know his beliefs.

Thanks to the NRA and the usual rightwing paranoia, not a single gun was "confiscated." But fear is a powerful salesman and several companies made serious money.

But but....what about the Executive Orders that gun nuts claimed he was going to issue? All you seem to have is exaggeration and mind reading.

Kinda like selling "elephant in the tree insurance"...and using the fact that there are no elephants in trees to prove it's effectiveness

He did what he could which wasn't much without running afoul of Heller. If you think for one minute that if he had a friendly supreme court and congress we wouldn't have a had a national gun registration and more silly ass ineffective assault weapons bans you're kidding yourself.

I am old enough to remember late night talk show hosts and callers claiming that Clinton signed executive orders to invite Chinese police in to keep order during the riots that never happened, UN troops with baby blue helmets are hiding in barracks of closed WWII era Army bases, Communist Cuban troops were hiding in the swamps of Florida, the Mexican Poncho Vila brigade was already ready to pounce from their hiding places in the West Texas Town if El Paso, and French Canadian troops in Pink Berets are in the potatoes fields of Maine, and the best one was that 357,000 6 foot lesbians from the Brazilian Amazon were going to be air dropped using WWII C47's into the cities of the MidWest to completed the take over, and a column of 10 divisions of Cannukistani troops were moving South from Alberta Canada.

So I have heard all of the possible paranoia and BS fake news before the term fake news was a phrase.

So your proof of "taking our guns away" is not even an attempt to do that but rather a national registration. OKkkayyyy then

Obama's pen and phone were no match for the US Constitution. This is why the founders created a constitutional republic not a democracy.

Quite odd. Liberals touting another Obama failure. It's pretty sad when his best accomplishments are his failures.

Yes, but a paranoid right wing fantasy tinged with sheer bigotry should never be mistaken for anything else.

Yes, you are on to something there.

The parochial far right wing responds easily and with considerable enthusiam to paranoid fantasies of non existant threats. Threats are particularly onorous if they involve black folk, Latinos or anything from outside the United States (particularly if it isn't white) This is what was behind David Koresh, the Oklahoma City bombing, and much more.

It's the well that Donald Trump tapped, and is still trying to mine. It's the fuel for birtherism, and Fema concentration camps, fake ISIS troops with Ebola in Mexico, and Jade Helm.

Fear is what fuels the angry, white far right. Fearmongering is the central theme of right wing media, because they know the audience readily responds and will glue itself to the screen. If they don't have anything to be afraid of, they make it up. Politicians feed it all the time. It's the fuel behind Sarah Palin, Rick Santorum, Tom Trancredo, Joe Arapio, Pam Geller, Steve Bannon and Donald Trump. It is the life blood of Fox Noise.

Yet when the left lost the battle against carry laws claiming that the streets would become the OK corral they have become even more hysterical in their opposition and fear of law abiding citizens.

Can we bookmark this for when Trump is out of office and the gays are still alive, blacks are not enslaved....again....and there are no death squads.

Liberals...Conservatives......there is no difference in the amount of fear generated conspiracy theories they can come up with.
