IMO an 8 year long nightmare has come to an end. I know that somewhere around half of the country doesnt agree. However again IMO it was a nightmare because of the decline of the US in the world.

We are another 10 trillion dollars in debt with nothing to show for it. We can not longer put a man in space. Our military is at the lowest strength since before WWII. We have 90 million people that are not working. And worst of all we are a very divided nation due to the actions of Obama.

    Obama will NOT be missed!!!!!!!

The only thing he did right was preventing the drunken hag from being president.

You do realize in 2009 we were on the verge of a depression?
    And today we are not.

Obama will be missed, after the dopamine rush you got from Trump runs empty, and you finally feel the shame he has brought to being a American I've been talking about.

There wasn't a nightmare to begin with, but you sure as hell elected one. Thanks for putting us all in the sh*thouse now buddy.

Wait until the Trump Turd complete 4 years we will see the debt triple. Mi st of the 90 millions not working are retired, students, retarded , and people who gave recently died but are still being counted as " looking for work".

silly radical left and silly radical right...

Thanks to Obama, we recovered from a terrible recession (which could've been much worse if he hadn't saved auto industry). Thanks to Obama we are not involved in a large scale war like Iraq and ISIS is being destroyed (albeit slowly, could've happened earlier). Thanks to Obama, 20 million more people are insured (albeit costs continue to rise).

Obama was a good president, period. His approval ratings are sky high for a reason, same as Reagan's.

Having said the above, i'm excited about Trump.. i do think we are in a position today where we need to tackle many of the things Trump wants to tackle - immigration/border security, bringing back trillions of offshore money, re-negotiating trade, fixing healthcare (not by just repealing but replacing or improving ACA), invest in infrastructure etc...

I think both Obama and Trump have come in at the exact right times. When Obama came in, we were in the middle of an economic armageddon and trying to recover from a disastrous war. Obama was the right man to step in and help the Country recover from large scale wars and an economic disaster, his calm and cool demeanor was perfect for these times. Now that these things are out of the way, Trump can come in and focus on the things i mention above. See, if Trump would've come in in 08, he would've had to focus on the disastrous economy and wars, just like Obama did, and Trump wouldn't have been able to focus all his energy on the many things he wants to tackle. I like both and think both have come in at the right time...

The recession ended 4-5 months after Obama took office. What did he do specifically to stop it?

For eight years, Obama turned the presidency into a spectator sport. The varsity team is playing now, step aside progs, you couldn't get it done.

It just occurred to me that, at long, long last, we are able to speak of 0bama purely in the past tense. I love it! It's morning in America, dammit.

Maybe you missed it but Trump and the GOP aren't going to do much better in terms of debt...if they don't make it worse

    - - - Updated - - -

And how long did the Recovery from that Great Recession take...with no help from Republicans...

Wrong; Study your history; Woodrow Wilson will go down in history as the worst President in history; followed by Richard M. Nixon.

It ended around June of 2009.
But in 2016 we are not still living in the same conditions we were in 2009. Thing have improved.
Did the auto industries magically bail themselves out?
