During the election I started a thread predicting Trump would do this and saying it was yet another reason to vote for him. Looks like my prediction is coming true and all the leftist that accused me of making things up in my previous thread must be in a rage. Personally I am overjoyed!

"The incoming administration is looking to table major reductions in funding for almost all government departments, which it says would reduce federal spending by as much as $10.5 trillion, political news site The Hill said in a report on Thursday.
In addition to larger cuts that would affect the Commerce and Energy Departments, the Trump team is said to be thinking about selling off the public broadcasting agency, and ending both the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities."

Considering NPR is slanted extremely to the left, NO, tax dollars shouldn't fund a penny. If they can't be even handed they deserve no support from anyone besides their yearly funding drive.

I listen to NPR every morning. Their bias is obvious and embarrassing.

Big Bird is already privatized. Sesame Street is produced by HBO now. Public TV gets it a season later.

Not surprising since the Trump regime is not happy with any form of truth in broadcasting.

Good! There is no reason whatsoever to subsidize them. I don't care what they say, or who they employ to say it, they should sell advertising like any other radio/TV network and learn to live in the real economic world.

Trump's War on Truth continues and will never stop. His supporters are like Orcs—never tiring—cutting down the forest all night, so to speak. Meanwhile NPR is about 75 percent public-funded. They should have no problem getting an increase in donations, with a despot in the White House. Donnie can use the saved funding to build a big statue of himself on the White House lawn...cheered on by the low-information crowd.

There's no need to do away with NPR (Nazi Propaganda Repository) just quit funding it with taxpayer dollars and it will wither on the vine.

Hilarious that some people think NPR represents "truth" in broadcasting.

If so why all the handwringing and bed wetting from the left? The govt funded NPR to the tune of 445 million dollars in 2012. Shouldn't that funding go toward more important things like inner city schools?

I thought you'd be overjoyed by having the government out of the business of influencing people, especially Trump's government.

Truth would have to exist. The media had a bad Saturday including the fake news about MLK's bust.

Who said I hate NPR? Is this the "if you don't vote for Hillary, you hate women" tactic. Or is it, you're a racist for disagreeing with Obama tactic? Grow up please.

Intelligent people can listen to news when they don't necessarily agree with the tone and delivery. Partisan trolls just like being in an echo chamber...IE...radical progressives.

It's simple. News that takes a distinctive political slant should NOT be subsidized. Sorry. How sad you disagree and prefer state sponsored propaganda.

Facts tend to be slanted towards the left. So we need to stop all federal funding of science.

NPR was created in 1970 , replacing the existing National Educational Radio Network. The purpose was to present programing with cultural significance and non-biased news. Back then, there were limited stations and networks. Today NPR (and PBS) compete in a market with hundreds of networks on cable and the Internet. Many cultural networks are readily available. (History Channel, Discovery, BET, etc) AND........we already have enough biased news networks.

NPR is a prime example of a self-serving obsolete governmental bureaucracy. If they shut down NPR (and PBS) tomorrow, it would take a month for most Americans to realize it happened. Our money is being wasted solving a problem that no longer exists.

Defunding NPR is not a war on truth it is a shot across the bow of left wing propoganda and a nod to taxpayers who resent funding such garbage

Facts are never slanted and real science isn't either. What is slanted is interpretation of both.

So surely you'd have no problem if say, Rush Limbaugh had his program 25% paid for by tax dollars then.
