Either Sean Spicer is a Liar or He is Incompetent

By now there is no denying that the "alternative facts" alleged by Spicer in his press conference were outright falsehoods. The turnout at Trump's inauguration paled in comparison to Obama's. The metro sales were significantly higher for Obama's inauguration 4 years ago, contrary to Spicer's claim. So the question becomes: Is Spicer a liar or downright incompetent? It's actually hard to say. It goes without saying that as a Trump administration imbecile, he isn't the cream of the crop, and he doesn't have the cream of the crop working for him. So I'm prepared to say that he's incompetent instead of an outright liar.

 

If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor. If you like your health plan, you can keep your health plan.

So, how does Spicer's, true or false, statement effect your life? How did Obama's lie?

What does Metro sales have to do with anything? How about Uber sales? Lyft? Taxis? I never use public transportation --- just end up subsidizing the pukes that do.

No doubt Obama had more than double the Metro riders than Trump, but then who cares how many poor people attended the inauguration. That was never the question.

 

Spicer is a trained seal, he did exactly what he was told to do. There is a reason the "statement" was presented an hour later than scheduled, those writing this crap (likely Trump, Miller, Bannon) had to edit various drafts before they got one they liked. Just the most ridiculous White House "press department" episode I've ever seen, how embarrassing. I'm no fan of Spicer, he is an ideologue but this isn't his work - he is doing what his master tells him to do. Someone in Trumpland needs to grow a pair and tell the man-child to stop this nonsense - fast.......

Did you count heads? Because Obama attendees took subsidized transportation, the Metro, does that mean that Trump attendees who subsidized Obama's Inauguration attendees also used public transportation? How many people used Uber in 2009? Lyft? How about Friday?

I'll bet Trump had as many or more attendees than Obama had in 2009, but Obama's attendees took up more space because of their diets of Big Mac Meals. Prove me wrong.

Obama had 3 of them, they had a few tough days as well but certainly not like this - Spicer's episode takes the cake. Even one of GW Bush's guys, Ari F is concerned about this. In a way, I do have some empathy for Spicer, as I noted above.

The whole story is much ado about nothing. No more relevant at this point than the fact that Trump Routinely filled auditoriums while Hillary couldn't fill a class room.

Spicer was just doing his job. He just isn't as good at it as Kellyanne.

I think that is important to consistently point out errors (? falsehoods) on the part of Trump and his staff. Hopefully they will learn more respect for accuracy and honesty.

Spicer is holding a news briefing right now. He didn't seem to have a clue what the "ACA mandate" is.

 

Ok, a couple things----Yes,it was a stupid thing for trump to send out Spicer to make the statement he did-we can all agree on that--BUT,here is not so stupid thing that is the outcome----A journalist's (that is what Spicer is) most coveted asset is his/her "credibility",Spicer's very first statement to the people of the United States of America was a lie--now,every time Spicer steps up to the Press Secretary's mic, every reporter & every American citizen will wonder if Spicer is telling the truth or not! That is why everyone should care--& when you say "no one" cares,you mean you-----
And "no",not all of us have accepted that trump is POTUS,so "no",some of us will not move on, some of us will keep digging for proof & when we have the proof we can impeach his A**-----So, I will accept that trump did get sworn in as POTUS----for the time being-----

 

Given Trump's propensity for lying about everything big and small, it's no surprise that his mouthpiece's first official appearance involved easily disprovable lies about something as inconsequential as crowd sizes. Trump is obsessed with size.
What's more amazing is KellyAnne Conway's attempt to reinvent the Trump/Spicer lies as "alternative truth."
That has already become a meme, and it's going to be thrown back in their faces every time they lie.

The problem here is that Spicer's overall claim was that Trump's audience was the biggest ever as determined by various sources and first reported (IIRC) by Entertainment Today. Global audience of course includes tens of million more than were in the crowd in Washington.
