Darn it! It appears that the Trump transition team forgot, or opted not to, do away with that pesky petition thing.

So a petition was started for the president to release his tax returns, and under the terms of the policy, the White House now has 30 days to respond.

Which makes me wonder, will they? I am leaning towards no. I am leaning towards the White House ignoring over 150,000 American on the matter. After all, the election is over, right? Trump is president so why would they respond to the people?

Well, that didn’t take long. Less than a day after it was posted online, the petition calling on President Donald Trump to release his tax returns has garnered more than 158,700 signatures—more than enough to warrant an official response from the White House.

As Slate’s Josh Levin explained on Friday, the petition platform known as “We the People” survived the transition from the Obama administration to the Trump era. According to the rules during the Obama era, any petition that received at least 100,000 signatures within 30 days has to receive an official White House response. It still isn’t clear whether the Trump administration plans to follow the same rules, although they’re still listed on the site.

“The unprecedented economic conflicts of this administration need to be visible to the American people, including any pertinent documentation which can reveal the foreign influences and financial interests which may put Donald Trump in conflict with the emoluments clause of the Constitution,” reads the brief description of the petition.

Obama ignored the White House petitions at will. Nothing forces the President to respond. It was a PR ploy by Obama to try to disguise his lack of transparency that he promised.

It's Obama's rule, which himself ignored. Let him respond to it.

It is a White House policy, and it is still available to use.

    https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/

Now one can try to excuse team Trump on he matter, but the fact remains it is still an active portion of the White House website.

    Obama installed this
scam in 2011, and then he himself ignored it's rules (not responding to all petitions and not responding in a timely manner in dozens of instances).
"On August 13, 2013, the Washington Post website published an article about 30 petitions that had been left unanswered for an average of 240 days despite each having met the signature goals. The article refers to the website whpetitions.info for taking "its own tally and highlights petitions that have received enough signatures but have not received responses." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/We_the_People_(petitioning_system)

As I already correctly stated, it was Obama's scheme that he himself didn't bother to take seriously. Why should Trump?

    From your link.

e White House has responded to 321 of them (99%) with an average response time of 117 days. Average waiting time so far for 2 unanswered petitions: 23 days, according to whpetitions.info The total number of petitions created and percent that have reached an actionable level beyond a response are unable to be determined at this time.

So the White House responded to 99% of them. Can I assume that Trump will do the same?

Interesting, I didn't know that, should Trump rise above past?
He did say he would release them or is there an alternative fact in play that I don't know about?

No need an Obama White House rule does not necessarily apply to him nor bind him nor could it violate his right to privacy.

Give it up he beat you. His spokesman put an end to it yesterday when she said he has no intention to do so.

So are you going to be a Taxer for 4 years now?

I've yet to have anyone explain what they hope to find in them that will give them some perceived ammunition to use against him. You've got his FEC filing and he has to file a similar financial disclosure form every year now.

It does not bind him in the least. That was an Obama policy and rule, it ends with him.

No. It's just that hysterical leftists have gotten accustomed over the course of the last eight years of being catered to across the board. They still haven't quite picked up on the fact that their sorry rumped president took their money (all of our money, really) and ran and that now there is a new president in the Oval Office, a real president that is not read in on the liberal script, and would instead use if for toilet paper if it were to come across his desk. But they ARE going to learn . . . eventually.

It was nothing but a stunt. The entire Obama term was nothing but

    We talk about issues.
    We thing about issues.
We bring people together on issues.
    We have conferences on issues.
We listen to the people on issues.

But never, we are going to do this to fix this.

Thus the "make the people feel good like we are actually doing anything" petition thingy.
