Here's something I've been waiting for - no, actually, been dreaming for years.

There is finally talk in Congress about the US actually leaving the UN. This was approached before (I think in 2015) but went nowhere. Perhaps this year they may have a better chance, with Republicans in charge.

A bill has already been introduced in Congress to remove the US from the United Nations

The UN has outlived its usefulness. What benefit do we get form being a member?

And here's some interesting information (from last year) about the huge costs the UN is costing us, and how it inflated so much,

U.S. pays United Nations MORE than it costs to run world group

Good, then we won't be able to veto sanctions against Israel.

When the UN first come about, it was a good thing. Today, with all the corruption and BS going around, I would back the US leaving the UN. I would also take it once step further and say to the UN ok you have 1 year to leave the country move to Geneva

    - - - Updated - - -

The UN will be to busy panicking as to who is going to fund them then to be worried about Israel.

I'd make the UN move to some sanctuary city in CA or possibly move it to Gitmo. Then send them a bill for the lease payment.

LOL I say just be done with it. For a long time I was thinking that the UN was good thing. Then Lyiba was put in charge of the Human Rights consul. WTF??? At that point that is when I said done.

You do realize that the US started the UN. It's an American creation.

I'm torn about this story. I can't decide if I want the UN building turned into a hotel, or completely torn down and the land made into a golf course.

In either event, it'll be the first time in a long time the land has actually served a useful purpose.

And we can end it and save over 8 billion a year funding it.

Move it to Iran. After all, Obama says it's safe there now. Maybe the EU can pick up the tab. LOOOOL

Democrats may try to burn down American cities. They are going to hate this America and Americans first.

Excellent news! The U.N. should be dismantled.

Ditto to all of the above.

Well, former president Obama will be quite happy.

Either that, or let Brussels take it over. Maybe they can put it in that neighborhood that doesn't allow police activities at night. Wouldn't that be fun?

Yes. Libya? In charge of human rights? What a complete joke.

Good. So it shouldn't be a problem to have the U.S. pulling the plug, right?

Hmm. That is a tough one. Perhaps create a museum on the site, something showing what the U.N. was originally designed to do, and how it slowly drifted off track to become unrecognizable.

Yes! Of course! Iran should host it. That is brilliant.

Ha, we can turn it into a hotel and put a big gold POTUS sign on it.

Once the USA is out, UN sanctions are meaningless. Sanctions had barely any meaning anyway.

Bye bye veto power, so bye bye Israel.

And I guess the UN headquarters will move to an other place, with their diplomats and staff. That will cost the US 1000's of jobs easy.

    - - - Updated - - -

You tell that to Cuba, that the sanctions the US placed where all totally meaningless and they coped perfectly fine with them as if it all wasn't there.

How is that goodbye Israel? If the United States tells the Middle East, "Hands off Israel in regards to invasions or concerted attacks unless you want a nuclear warhead packed up your pooper," then even hate-filled and crazed camel jockeys will keep . . . hands off. Hell, even antisemitic leftists would probably back off to some extent.

Nonsense. The US contribution is currently around 22% of the budget. There are 192 other member states who will be more than willing to make up the shortfall.

So what? It is useless. It's filled with anti-Western, authoritarian governments. We have nothing in common with them.

    Let's make this happen!

Cuba coped just fine for 50 years and never bowed to US pressure, despite all your invasion and assassination attempts. The Cubans showed you the middle finger.

"Authoritarian governments"? You just elected one. Congratulations!

Israels military and ally status protects it not anything to do with the UN.
