Is this guy really like Trump? Could he run afoul of 'hate speech' laws? Is the Canadian media behaving toward him like the US media is behaving toward Trump? http://dailycaller.com/2017/02/06/canadian-media-ramps-up-attacks-on-oleary/ Canadian Media Ramps Up Attacks On OLeary Photo of David Krayden DAVID KRAYDEN Contributor 9:04 PM 02/06/2017 Liberal media in the U.S. are beginning to notice the emergence of Kevin OLeary in Canadian politics. The businessman and television personality just entered the Conservative Party of Canada leadership race and is already considered the front-runner in a pack of 14 candidates. Hes apparently selling the party memberships needed to win the contest and raising money more money than anyone else running. At times he sounds an awful lot like President Donald Trump: during Saturdays leadership debate in Halifax, Nova, OLeary said that Canadians were tired of politicians spinning BS. So the New York Times has just sounded the alarm bell, warning that what happened to the U.S. with Trump could happen to Canada: Finally, a reality show narcissist with too much money and zero government experience of our very own! But in Canada, criticism of OLeary has not been limited to the opinion pages though a Toronto Star columnist did dismiss the Conservative candidates debate performance as less than stellar, and Canadas national news magazine Macleans ran an op-ed entitled Why I Wont Vote For Kevin OLeary And Neither Should You. Instead, the CBC has been relentless in releasing reports that read more like commentary, recently hectoring OLeary for spending too much time in the U.S., where he owns a home in Boston and works on his television series Shark Tank. A CBC News analysis of OLearys media appearances and social media postings suggest that five or six days of his first week campaigning were spent south of the border. While OLeary launched his campaign in Toronto on Wednesday Jan. 18, by Thursday morning he was in New York City for an interview on Good Morning America, it reports. The left-of-center state broadcaster which may worry about its $1 billion taxpayer subsidy being cut or scrapped under OLeary then proceeded to categorize the rest of OLeary speaking schedule for the week, noting disapprovingly that he gave at least one broadcast interview to a Canadian network from Hollywood, Florida, where he was attending a three day a conference on exchanged traded funds (ETFs). The CBC quoted OLearys statement, You know Im actually a household name in the United States, and proceeded to ask him if this didnt detract from his commitment to Canada. OLeary replied that Canadians arent stupid. Other CBC reports have suggested that liberals are joining the Conservative Party just to ensure that extremists like OLeary and fellow leadership candidate Kellie Canadian Values Leitch arent elected. Though the reporter of this particular expose piece frankly admits that he was only aware of one of his friends and that several Hamiltonians are doing the exact same thing For his part, OLeary says that given the fragility of NAFTA negotiations with the new Trump administration, his U.S. connections are an asset, not a liability: That is of grave concern to me and Im trying to bring our case to the American people, because theres a lot of things they dont know, OLeary said from Halifax before Saturdays debate. My answer would have to be yes, Mr. Kevin O'Leary is a lot like President Donald Trump in many ways. Yes, he is very likely to take a significantly different approach to immigration than P. M. Justin Trudeau has been doing so yes, he would probably not be thrilled with the "Islamophobia" law that the Liberals are proposing. http://www.politicalforum.com/canada/493449-canada-inching-toward-islamophobia-law.html "Canada Inching Toward ‘Islamophobia’ Law" Yes, the Canadian media is behaving toward him much like the USA media attacked Donald Trump relentlessly! I left Canada's Liberal Party in December of 2015 and joined Canada's Conservative Party in January of 2016 and although I am truly impressed with several of the leadership candidates, Mr. Kevin O'Leary seems to be the most electable in the next Canadian federal election that is probably three or four years away. Kevin O'Leary's ideas on how to make Canada more energy independent sure sound logical to me! http://www.politicalforum.com/econo...-how-make-canada-more-energy-independent.html Kevin O'Leary on how to make Canada more energy independent"
Here's more: http://dailycaller.com/2017/02/13/canadas-trump-candidate-is-most-likely-to-beat-trudeau/ Canada’s ‘Trump Candidate’ Is Most Likely To Beat Trudeau PHILLIP STUCKY 4:39 PM 02/13/2017 1211 American businessman Kevin O’Leary is the most likely candidate to replace Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, according to a Monday poll released by Mainsteet Research. O’Leary is known for his fiscally conservative views, and actually toyed with the idea of running as early as last January, when he discussed how he would run. O’Leary has only been in the race for a little under a month. He has dominated early polling that shows him as the most likely candidate to successfully unseat Trudeau. The Conservative party in Canada doesn’t have a primary like the ones in the U.S. Instead, there is an intra-party preferential vote, but not every vote is weighted the same, according to Ipolitics. O’Leary leads in the overall voter percentage, earning 24.7 percent in the poll — an incredible feat given the 14 other candidates running for the party nomination. Also of note is the nearly 11 percent of conservative voters who remain undecided in the poll, indicating that there is room for growth for the well-known business leader. O’Leary’s numbers fall slightly when the potential point system is taken into account. Essentially, 24.52 percent of the available points support O’Leary currently, with Maxime Bernier a close second at 20.22 percent. Perhaps the most revealing question was which one of the Conservative candidates was most likely to beat Trudeau, and O’Leary quickly emerged as the party favorite. Thirty-six percent of voters in the poll indicated they felt that O’Leary stood the best chance, compared to only 20.32 percent who felt that Bernier could win. O’Leary is a Canadian national with business ties to the U.S. He primarily lives in Boston, Mass., but maintains a home in Canada, clearing the way for him to run for office there. O’Leary currently owns several businesses in the U.S., including a mutual fund that carries his name. He supports reduced corporate tax rates, the North American Free Trade Agreement, and opposes deficit spending. The published margin of error of the poll is 1.3 percentage points in either direction. There are 91,000 members of the Conservative Party, and the pollster obtained answers from “thousands” of respondents during the poll. The polling for the recent data concluded Feb. 9. Yes... Mr. Kevin O'Leary is in my opinion the most likely Canadian Conservative Party National Leader to be able to limit Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to merely four or five years in office. If the leadership convention was held today Mr. Kevin O'Leary would be my number one choice for Leader and Mr. Andrew Scheer and Dr. Kellie (Doogie) Leitch would probably be my second and third choice, (not necessarily in that order).
