When workers announce to the boss over the company, they will miss work to attend some rally, they must keep in mind he also has rights. He has the right to expect you to show up on time. To be there since his customers must have the product. To force the Boss to have to explain to his customers you took some days off to toss a snit, means you get fired.

To put this into your own context, think of it like this. You depend on the babysitter to show up to take care of your children. You learn from said sitter that sitter will not show up to protest something or the other. This forces you to miss your job. Do you fire her or him? Or if you take the kids to a professional, what do you do when that person takes off for some rally and closes up shop for a day or two? Have a beer on me and come back with cool replies.

I guess there are no dissenters.

That is why communist countries have Political officers that make sure bosses give workers the time off to attend approved party functions and rallies.

The obligatory 2 minutes of hate, Party meetings, and any Boss would have to comply or be categorized as a thought criminal.

Last time I checked that political party rallies, and other such things are not protected functuons when it comes to time off.

But how does the OP feel about people taking time off to take care of sick children? Or going to funerals? Or simply because they are too sick to work? Cause all of those happen all the time. And Republicans for the most part, have opposed making time off for those things manditory.

In Indiana, unless you are part of a union, your employer can fire you for not showing up, even if you called in, and even if you have a excuse from a doctor stating that you had a highly contagious disease, such as strep throat, and you going to work would endanger co-workers and customers.
