I believe the BBC, TheHill.com, and maybe a few others were barred as well. After deriding the media as the "enemy of the people", and saying that news organizations should not be allowed to use unnamed sources in stories, the Trump Administration has doubled down on its authoritarian mannerisms. Can you imagine the chaos in the conservative camp if Clinton had barred news organizations from a press gaggle because of their pointed stories? And just for a flashback:

I don't see the problem. An informal press pool is normally just a few, one from each media source (TV, print, radio, etc.) That's what this was. Not everyone gets to attend. Big deal. In fact , there were actually more allowed than normal.

I remember when on one particular Sunday Obama appeared on the Sunday news shows for every news network except for Fox News. That's basically the same as inviting every network into a room except for Fox.
I didn't hear the liberals complain about that. They applauded it because they hate Fox.

Now it's the liberal media's turn to be shunned and if they don't like it, they can suck it!

Faux News, despite their shortcomings, were never barred from press events. There is no way Obama was going to sit in the Faux news room after their eight years of guaranteed hate. And now Trump deserves the same, except much worse, with many large demonstrations. Which you will see, soon enough.

Apparently this is where hypcocrisy becomes an openly admitted trait of conservatives. Never thought I'd see the day.

If a president decides to appear on every news network except one that's basically the same thing. He's not giving access to those networks he doesn't like.

Now the shoes on the other foot.

As for CNN why should they be in any press gathering? They have fewer viewers than most high school kids blogs.

Really? They clearly barred the news organizations that have been openly critical of the Administration.

    Absolutely.

Trump has a problem with the 1st Amendment.

He seems to relish crapping all over The Constitution (that he has taken an oath to uphold).

Even though his Fever Swamp followers seem to love his assault on the 1st Amendment.

I wonder how they would feel if he took the same dismantling (crapping all over) attitude toward the 2nd Amendment?

Apparently, his Fever Swamp followers (as they have shown time and time again) are willing to defend the indefensible.

Even when he craps all over The Constitution.:salute:

No hypocrisy because I never criticised Obama for ignoring Fox. He wasn't restricting the press's speech by ignoring one cable network that only reached three million people.

Obama did it, now Trump is doing it. I saw no issue then just as I see no issue now.

What's the rationale for banning the BBC?

Let me know when reporters start mysteriously turning up dead or when CNN is shut down by the government and then I'll give what you say some credence. Until then all I hear is more liberal crying.
Waaa waaaa waaa the meanie president is ignoring us.

    Why would they not?

The BBC has only been banned from North Korea, Zimbabwe, Myanmar, Uzbekistan, Rwanda, China, and now the White House. One of these things is not like the other, or shouldn't be like the others.

Dishonest propaganda outlets deserve no less. Let the more honest Journalists get the scoops while they whither on the vine.

What's the big deal? You wouldn't invite NAMBLA to a Boy Scout jamboree, would you?

The president is under no obligation to communicate with the media. The 1st amendment only prohibits the president from suppressing their freedom to broadcast their lies. Media doesn't need access to fabricate their "stories" anyway.

Trump is freezing out CNN, controlling their access to him. He's trying to close their doors, while sites that uncritically adore him get easy access.

Get out of the kitchen, Trump. You can't take the heat.

Trump is the least deserving person that ever had the power of the POTUS.

He has the thin-skin of an 11 y/o girl on Instagram.

A disgrace to the office of POTUS (who has made the USA a worldwide laughing stock).

Get a grip. The "gaggle" was held in Spicer's office, not a BB arena? In this case, size did matter. :roflol:
NBC, ABC, CBS and Fox News were all there, so was the WSJ & some other news outlets. Seems reasonable.

I'll worry when Trump decides CNN, the NYT, Politico & Buzzfeed aren't allowed in the press briefing room. At that point, we have a REAL problem.

Trump derided the dishonest media as enemies of the people. Do you disagree?

Where does the First Amendment come into play? Those organizations can still print their lies and hate.
