Default Dumb Question

What happens when all possible Social Security numbers are used up? Do they recycle dead people's? And if so, would that screw up some people's records? Perhaps they could add a digit. But won't that cause a lot of people to have to update their software?

Is that really realistic, how many digits are there, surely there should be enough numbers left to last until the system no longer exists. In Canada we have 9 digit social insurance numbers, I never actually pondered this in my mind either.

Once the billionth person is entered into social security, it will cause an unstable collapse of the computer system, a fatal defect which will destroy all technology and cause computers everywhere to stop functioning. Power grids will fail, industrialization will end.

Remember to stock up on canned goods and waters, and remember to buy my book!
