And, if notwithstanding all of this, Ye is still on drugs, it is a weird drug. It has no effect on the breast-, back- and butterfly-strokes; it only helps her freestyle

Sorry, what was it that you were wondering again?
Firstly, you sound extremely naive about doping and the steps athletes take to mask suspicious elements in their system. Lance Armstrong never tested positive either, yet he's a well known doper. When you factor in what she accomplished, on top of the fact that China has state sponsored cheating programs (doping, falsifying ages of athletes, etc) it's no wonder a cloud of doubt will be cast over her.

But if you're under the extremely naive position that there isn't dopers competing in these games that will never be caught, I don't know what else there is to discuss with you.

i think you are the naive one to think when someone win thats not your home country, they automatically win due to doping. pretty much all the major news already said china is in the clean. as for china state sponsored cheating program for olympic is that your stereotypes/racism or fact. if its fact please provide source other than your BS.

china send their team to US/autrailia train for 5 years, pay four time than anybody else to hire top western coach to train them. the chinese girl you accuse of cheating was train by famous austrlia coach for years, win many medal before she went to london, and she was test regularly during trainning in australia and in london. china bring their team own chef to meet their diet to australia. even now the next olympic chinese team are training in michgan, US, australia and other place, hire some of the best coach in the world to train their team. when you have 1.3billion people and $hundreds million to train the talent one, sponser by the state its bound to have some result soon or later.

same with beach valleyball/valleyball and other sports they don't just train in china, they send their whole team to europe/US/australia to train, and hire the best coach to train them.

there are doping in the event, but from what i read, the chinese swimmer is clean for now.

this is just one of the many coach who train the chinese swimmer

Ken Wood is an Australian swimming coach, who has coached many Olympic and World Championship medal-winning swimmers. He is the head coach at the Redcliffe Leagues Swimming Club at Redcliffe, Queensland, on the northern edge of Brisbane.

After the 2008 Summer Olympics, his main student Jessicah Schipper left him after he sold her training program and methodology to the Chinese swimmer Liu Zige, who defeated her in the 200 m butterfly and broke her world record.[1]

Possibly genetically modified athletes is one suggestion.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...=feeds-newsxml

Dr Ted Friedmann, chair of the genetics panel of the World Anti-Doping Agency, said he ‘would not be surprised at all’ if gene enhancement were not now being secretly used by some competitors

I'm not understanding why Viv, a women's libber, is rooting for the Chinese, attributing that to a blind hatred of the United States I suppose...
It is naivete...China regularly practices infanticide on female new borns...regularly aborts female fetuses...as the male in Chinese culture is deemed superior
and with the one child per couple rule...couples prefer males.

Genetically modifying a human being is right up the alley for the long history of dubious ethics, as practiced by China in international competitions.

    I naive and dumb American...apparently.

But China’s history is not inspiring when it comes to swimming and drugs. In the 1990s, the country’s swimmers came out of nowhere to break world records and grab golds. Just as predictably, the drug busts followed. In one particularly telling incident, Chinese swimmers captured 12 gold medals at the 1994 Asian Games. But a surprise drug test then caught seven of those Chinese swimmers. At the 1998 world championships, a Chinese swimmer was stopped at an Australian airport carrying vials of human growth hormone.
But here’s the difference: Western athletes make an individual choice to subject their bodies to the dangers of performance-enhancing agents. In sports systems like those of China or East Germany, the decision to dope is made by the state. Athletes sometimes have no idea that the supplements they thought were simply herbs or vitamins are illegal substances. Take the case of Zou Chunlan, a former weight-lifting national champion. During her years as a lifter in the 1980s and ’90s, Zou was given mysterious pills that, it turned out, flooded her system with male hormones. She grew a beard. Today, she is unable to bear children. She told Chinese media she had no idea what it was she was taking at the coaches’ behest. “Everything is for the gold medals,” she told TIME, of the Chinese sports system. “I think that’s still the same today.”

we had doping incident in tracking and other sport in our history. is that mean phelp winning in 2008/now has something to do with doping? the incident you quote is from individual, and its not state sponsored. she was clear from drug test unless later they prove otherwise. ever heared of proving until guilty?

links and prove of the chinese swimmer is guilty of doping. if IOC and british test can find any substance, it doesn't take a genius to know what it means

here is a list of doping. there are alot countries did this including US, china, and many others
What follows is a list of all the athletes that have tested positive for a banned substance either during or after an Olympic Games in which they competed. Any medals listed were revoked by the International Olympic Commission (IOC). In 1967 the IOC banned the use of performance-enhancing drugs, instituted a Medical Commission, and created a list of banned substances.[15] Mandatory testing began at the following years Summer and Winter games.[15]

Americans do cheat, however it is not sponsored by the State. At the provincial level in China, cheating is encouraged. Did you bother to read the article on genetically modifying
    athletes?

    Doping tests wouldn't indicate anything.

Given China's already dubious record on doping, known State sponsored cheating practice...and win at all costs ethics...suspicion should be raised.
