I'm afraid it does more than that.
REALY?!?!?! Did it take a whole four years at your state college to figure that one out?

Patriots 16 years ago where hitting ballistic missiles.
It works. It is possble.

To say it is not real/workable is to dismiss hard facts.

You'll have to ask them. I can't really speak for China.
Just seems odd to me that China would complain about NMD if they thought it was as useless as you seem to think it is. Wouldnt it be in their best interest for us to waste our substance on a worthless NMD program?

Yep. The only question is how well it will work...obviously it does work.

The Chinese are working hard in every direction to counter US military abilities - they know that the U.S. military worldwide depends on space satellites. It's time to get working again on Brilliant Pebbles - to shoot down from space weapons aimed at our military satellites.

jp read the source that I posted and you may be enlighted that your patron saint Reagan followed by the daddy of your current boy king were transferring technology to China. But of course truth never stands in the way of your partisanship now does it !!!

Chinese dragon awakens
By Bill Gertz
THE WASHINGTON TIMES

This is an excellent read and it was written back in 2005,,

This one paragraph should have wokened up the masses and driven the China watchers into over-drive.
Quote:
China's military buildup includes an array of new high-technology weapons, such as warships, submarines, missiles and a maneuverable warhead designed to defeat U.S. missile defenses.
I have noted the the Dragon's breath was smelling in other posts!!!!

SO f100 it took the stupid chines 20 years?

More then likely some of what helped them do this..as some of what helped them put a man in space.was handed over to them by Clinton in his stupid "space initiative" thing...adn those htings have more of a direct link then anything Reagan agreed to.

Not to mention the 100+ other nations on earth that deal with them.....

China has been militarizing at a pace far exceeding its needs. Its defenders and the usual excuse for eveyrone byt the USA types wil say its becasue they are modernizing and leave it at that. People looking closer will notice they are expanding as much as modernizing.

Default indeed Reagan was the intiating archetect

I recall from memory that indeed Reagan was the intiating archetect but there is archival evidense also. The link that I posted was from a Congressional Hearing you don't away with making things up like that especially in 1998. Commie watching was one of my hobbies!!!

Chinese missile destroys satellite in space

By Toby Harnden and Alex Massie in Washington

The prospect of "Star Wars" between China and the West loomed last night after Beijing used a ballistic missile to destroy a satellite in space.

The missile, which hit a 4ft-wide obsolete Chinese weather satellite 530 miles above the Earth, is thought to have been launched from the Xichang space centre in -China's Sichuan province.

It suggests that the Chinese have developed a major new capability that underscores the communist regime's desire to use its military might as well as burgeoning economic power to expand its influence.

"The US believes China's development and testing of such weapons is inconsistent with the spirit of co-operation that both countries aspire to in the civil space area," said Gordon Johndroe, spokes-man for the US National Security Council, yesterday. "We and other countries have expressed our concern regarding this action to the Chinese."

It is understood that Australia and Canada have also protested to China.

So this brings up lots of questions:
1. How will this affect the Missile Defense Shield currently under development?
2. Is China still to remain "most favored nation" trading partner?
3. Any ideas how this will affect geo-political economics? (Think about how multi-national companies will fare if billion dollar satellites get shot down. How will they conduct commerce?)
4. Military satellites, and military operations are certainly beginning to understand the "pucker factor" now aren't they?
This shows that we are not dealing with the tiny China who had to call for help because Japan invaded. We are dealing with s super power. A superpower who will never rival the US....BUT will pose serious problems.
