Default Scientists believed to manufacture stem cells

This news just came out this morning, so if scientists can create stem cells and not destroy an embryo, that means stem cell research could be done with the best colution to both worlds.

Here is the story of how they are doing it, please read before answering.

That opens up more problems for the religious right. Did God give us the knowledge to create life? Look for them to try to stop this also.

nomorechemo4me,
somehow, I am not sure how, but you tried to make this
appear as if creating stem cells was in someway creating
whole life forms. or something like that, in fact I am sure
you are going to see the religious applaud this, because
now science does not have to destroy life to save life.
It's more of a win win situation now.

Default two things.....

First of all, they aren't "creating" anything. What they're doing, is fooling one type of cell, into believing it's another.

Secondly, this is old news. The Japanese have been doing this for quite a while, and they're very successful at it. Most of the Orient, in fact, is years ahead of the US in genetic research at this point, thanks to things like the "ethical" considerations that impose laws and limit research funds for US scientists.

The Japanese have done some very significant work in this area, for instance recently they succeeded in converting mesenchymal cells into liver cells, and these "fooled" cells don't know or care whether they're attached to a real liver, so they can just inject them directly into the bloodstream. When this is done to mice with liver disease, the converted cells remove excess ammonia from the bloodstream and the mice become very much healthier within 24 hours. That's pretty amazing, and it's very significant for things like hepatitis and cirrhosis.

Yes indeed - the Orient seems to have a lot more money for this type of research, than we do. Funny thing, that - don't you think?

Minus all of the political posturing, US stem cell research (at a healthy $640 million - federal only) is well-positioned.

Hell, if California and New Jersey's State funding plans come to fruition, they'll outspend the vast majority of countries by themselves.

1.) The religious right isnt that powerful, nor taken that seriously?

2.) God is viewed as mythology...laws and regulations in developed countries are not based on primal and failed philosophies.

3.) That logic is failed...one can say with the same logic...who are we to heal a sick person, who are we to help a disabled person...medicine is bad, if you dont recover then you should die. simply illogical.

4.) we have progressed as a human race...we dont have wings, but we fly...we wear clothes, but are not born with them....this can be proven time and time with example after another incorrect.

5.) REAL reason any governmental body asked to render a decision on this topic isnt "moralistic"...that is what is sold to the joe blow naive public. Who stands to lose the most from stem cell research? PHARMACEUTICALS. Do the math. Certainly not for silly reasons of religous beliefs.
