Results over the internet
I recently got my GCSE exam results (I did pretty well, I was mentioned in the paper as one of the top three in my school with 3 A*s 7 As and 2 Bs) and I went into school to collect them. It was great going in because you could see everyone who you may not have seen since the end of the exams. It was especially good because 90% of the people coming out of the results room in our school left it with an open envelope and a big grin. On the other hand some people knew they were going to do badly, some had already gone into work and so really couldn't care less about their results, would it not be better to allow the option for results to be read over the net so that they don't have to share with their friends what they know are going to be awful results. One person I know decided they would go in at 10 when the results hall opened so that they could get their results in private; which was of course exactly the wrong time to go in because everyone was in then so that they could find out what their results were.
I personally believe that the option should exist for pupils to collect their results over the internet, this option is available in Ireland (The Republic of) but not in the UK, I feel that the system should spread to the UK and that way those who are on holiday can pick up their results themselves and on time so that they can share in the excitement of the day and those who do not want to share their results or simply do not care what they are can collect their results privately with very little effort.
Do you agree?
