Default Bush forgets to help Americans against Terrorists

The rightwing would have you believe that "compassionate" Bush is concerned with Americans welfare, but we have seen countless examples that this is an utter lie. Besides "Benny Boy is unimportant," no Antrax perpetrators, failing infrastructure & bridge disasters, outsourcing jobs is good, open borders, Katrina,.....etc......and now we find out what a joke Bush is in his protection of American lives to a terrorist attack. Bush's Administration cannot keep track of weapons & billion in dollars, or even prepare America for a terrorist attack that he claims as an excuse for being in the ME murdering US Troops daily.

Grab ya roll of duct tape & plastic, and read on about this idiots failures.

U.S. Lacks Labs to Test for 'Dirty Bomb'

WASHINGTON (Oct. 25) - The U.S. has a shortage of laboratories to test the thousands of people who might be exposed to radiation if a "dirty bomb" detonated in a major city, according to a recent congressional investigation.

The federal government established 15 disaster scenarios for federal, state and local officials to plan for, including one in which a dirty bomb goes off in a major downtown area and potentially exposes 100,000 people to radioactive materials.

A dirty bomb would contain some radioactive material that could cause contamination over a limited area but not create actual nuclear explosions.

Should this happen in real life, the nation would not be able to quickly conduct tests for these people, because there are few labs capable of doing so in the country; and the tests available only address six of the 13 radiological isotopes that would likely be used in a dirty bomb, according to the report prepared for the House Committee on Science and Technology. Instead, it would take four years to complete all these tests, according to the report to be released Thursday.

"I had hoped since the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, that our government had smart people lying awake at 3 o'clock in the morning, trying to think through everything that terrorists could be dreaming of, every kind of attack they could be dreaming of, and trying to think of ways to prevent it and to respond to it if it does happen," said Rep. Brad Miller, D-N.C. "Learning how poorly prepared we are for a dirty bomb, a radiological attack, makes me think that that's not happened."

Miller is chairman of the subcommittee holding a hearing on the report's findings.

If I were a terrorist, I could walk across the border and with very low tech tools cause immense destruction - this country is a sitting duck.

Default aw, come on now....

"6 of the 13 isotopes"?

Dude - if a dirty bomb goes off, and you don't know about it, you're just a moron, right? ( )

I mean, how smart do you have to be, to figure it out?

People start showing up at the ER with all the symptoms of radiation poisoning, and you think a doctor "won't notice"? That he'd actually have to wait for a "lab test"?

Dude, I mean, there are certain things in medicine that are "hard to diagnose", right? Well, radiation poisoning isn't one of 'em - you know, it's like, people start showing up with lesions, vomiting, and they got patches of hair falling out, I'll bet my left nut that the next things the doctor does is call the Department of Homeland Security.

Blade has a point. Our borders are so unsecured it's just ridiculous. It scares me to think that so many people pass through freely, easily, and unnoticed. I mean, that's like the next "big" attack waiting to happen. The day a nuke lands in the hands of terrorists, will be a really bad day for everyone...

I agree with Scooter on the radiation burn thing. Radiation poisoning is some scary sht. It doesn't exactly go unnoticed. Also, if a radiological event did take place, it wouldn't just be a couple of people going to the hospital, stumping the doctors. It would be a huge influx of people with the same symptoms. That would make it pretty clear as to what happened.

Default Borders? We don't need no stinking borders!

Can anyone describe the physical differences between an Arab and a Mexican?

Nah, don't worry about our borders.

I guess physical differences make no difference if they pass over and we don't even know it.

I was just thinking, the US just passed a lw requiring all Americans to have a passport to leave the country, yet we require no passport to cross the border illegally.............go figure

Speaking of borders, Bush is not good at securing borders anywhere.
