Default Philippine Congress Attacked

Deadly blast rocks Philippines lower house

MANILA, Philippines - An explosion rocked an entrance to the Philippine House of Representatives late Tuesday, killing a driver and injuring at least seven people, including lawmakers, officials said.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21767761/

Updated news on Fox is reporting that the Congressman who was the targetd was killed. He was a U.S. backed Congressman for a district where lots of fighting between al-Qaeda backed terrorists groups against the people there was prevalent. Proving once again that al Qaeda doesn't believe in democracy....they simply want to kill everyone who doesn't agree with them. All the more reason that we must keep up the world-wide war on terrorism. These murdering creeps must be stopped.

Abu Sayef has been an AQ splinter group since the 90s.

dude this is all common knowledge. AS has gotten monetary support from the same people sending donations to AQ.

Pre 2001, it's was an arab AQ/AS operative in Manila that was busted by the Phlip cops with the original 911v1.0 plans which called for hijacking trans-pacific airliners to be used as their poorman's cruise missiles.

Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG)
Al Harakut Al Islamiyya
Al-Harakatul Islamia
"Bearer of the Sword"
"Sword of God"

Description

The ASG is the smallest and most radical of the Islamic separatist groups operating in the southern Philippines. Some ASG members have studied or worked in the Middle East and developed ties to mjuahidin while fighting and training in Afghanistan. The group split from the Moro National Liberation Front in 1991 under the leadership of Abdurajik Abubakar Janjalani, who was killed in a clash with Philippine police on 18 December 1998. Press reports place his younger brother, Khadafi Janjalani, as the nominal leader of the group, which is composed of several factions.

One of the more media "silent" combat active fronts in this war that occasionally makes the news. SO far the heaviest coverage of it was with Oliver North wehn he imbedded himself for a while and went on operations there...outside of that I canlt recall any personality doing any reporting past reading the ticker tape.

Theres about 500 US troops in the southern Philippines helping the Phillippine forces there fight Abu Sayeff.

Back in Dec-January they managed to hunt down and kill Khaddafy Janjalani on Jolo Island. He was the leader of Abu Sayeff at the time.

Abu Sayeff isn't a very large force maybe a few hundred fighters and a few thousand supporters all told. They have murdered alot of people in everythign form kidnapping+murder to blowing up ferries....Problem is they operate mostly in the numerous islands of the Southern Phillipines/Northern Indonesia...

Doesn't take a genius to look at a map and realize why they are such a pain in the ass to destroy. But the past few years have seen a very invigorated Phillipinnes with US support going after them in some pretty intense fighting. If nothing else they can be ground down.
