Default Al Qaeda Executes former Sunni allies

They were deemed "not loyal enough." So they executed them. CNN has the video.

And to think---the Dems want to leave it all to these murdering thugs.

News flash: AQ will not take over if we leave. They're simply too murderous and unloved. Not to mention, not numerous enough.

There *are* security risks if we leave. But AQ is merely an aggravating factor.

...we shall see if and when Obama is elected president won't we. I sure hope Obama makes the right decision bringing all our troops home as he has said he would, because if that turns out to be the wrong decision, you can rest assured you will be hearing plenty from me, JP5, Duh, Sadistic Savior, Liberty, Blade, and the rest of my conservative comrades.

I think there are more concerns than just Al-Qaeda seizing power if we left tommorrow....

Iran could seize the Shia area, and then Al-Qaeda could operate with impunity, this is what we should be concerned with. Not AQ, they've taken a back seat. We need to concentrate on establishing Iraqi Sovereignty or simply put a significant miitary deterrant to any potential aggressors.

Default Al Qaeda

Al Qaeda has vastly more power in Iraq now than it did before Bush invaded. The longer we stay, the stronger Al Qaeda gets.

Only problem with that: AQ hates the Shia even more than they hate us. They consider them apostates.

Iran could gain influence is a fractured Iraq. But just as a practical matter, that's probably going to happen anyway. Iraq is something of an artificial state, and the religious/tribal ties between Iran and Iraqi Shia is probably stronger, in the long run, than loyalty to state. The only real counterbalance is the Persian vs. Arab divide.

That ethnic divide could well be enough to keep a Shia-run Iraq independent of Iran. But they would still probably have closer ties than they did before or do now. So some expansion of Iranian influence is inevitable.

Well, I certainly hope you're right. I hope the Iraqi's are strong enough to defend against these "murderous and unloved" and "not numerous" people.
