Depends on the round used. Standard ball ammo (from any .50 cal) will fail to penetrate one inch mild plate 7 times of 10 within a hundred meters. While HEAIP rounds like the MK211 MOD0 will do much better jobs at distance. It all depends. I will have to watch the show again to see what exactly they did.

I only watch Future Weapons for laughs, because much of what they say is false or out of context.

Ah! Now I remember, you're right, it was that gun I think, but it was the ammo they were demonstrating. My bad. It's on youtube somewhere I think.

Edit: and of course loads of it's bull, still find it entertaining though.

thats a big nasty autoloader a sniper rifle needs to be very mobile and camouflaged.

mightve been this but I don't think so. I remember them testing it in a mountain range kinda thing.

Yeah the Canadian forces have been using that rifle for a while now. It is a bit more accurate than the SASR is, but as we just purchased the M82A2s, we can not justify dumping them and buying another type of rifle.

I can not watch youtube videos on this computer, so I will watch it when I get home.

IIRC FW has had two .50 cal weapons on the show, and the .416. I think all three shows were on a mountain range.
