Default 8 Arrests in UK, plotting attacks in U.S.

http://www.sky.com/skynews/article/0...194927,00.html

Quote:
Eight men arrested in an anti-terrorism swoop have been charged with attempting to launch a radioactive or chemical attack.

The suspects were also charged with conspiracy to commit murder and some accused of plotting a terror campaign against major financial landmarks in the USA.

The men were among those seized in a series of raids in London, the Home Counties and in Lancashire two weeks ago.

Dhiren Bharot, from Willesden, north-west London, is charged with possession of plans for the stock exchange and Citigroup bank building in New York, IMF headquarters in Washington DC.

Along with Nadeem Tarmohammed, again from Willesden, he was also accused of owning documents relating to an alleged attack on the Prudential Building in New Jersey.

Police charged Quaisar Shaffi, 25, also from Willesden, with owning part of the Terrorists' Handbook detailing the preparation of explosives.

Among those held is a man described as a senior al Qaeda agent in Britain.

All eight will appear in custody at Bow Street Magistrates Court tomorrow.

A ninth man was charged with possession of a prohibited weapon.

The murder charge dates back to the beginning of 2000, as does the allegetion to launch a chemical or nuclear attack.
still think the release of this information to the public in the U.S. was a political game?

Default Thank God!

All I can say is Thank God our Intelligence and Britain's intelligence is having all these successes. This is good work and has undoubtedly saved lives.

BTW, Catz, if you think the Dems will say anything positive about it, you'll have a long wait. They are here to criticize any success that this administration or Tony Blair have.

Most of those charges will disappear, or give a short sentence. The UK has no Guantanamo, though I've heard they're planning to do something to the Sandwhich Islands...

Default No

Why should I? It is simply my belief that Blair will not survive the next elections. You are not oblidged to believe my opinion, that is up for you to choose.

Default That wasn't your only prediction in this thread,

oh psychic one. You also predicted that the arrestees will be released and that the charges will not stick. I'm just wondering why we should take your predictions seriously. Do you have some sort of track record on them which shows the percentage of correct predictions versus incorrect predictions?

After all, your postings contained nothing more than predictions...not substantiated by any factional information, no evidence that bolsters them, just empty proclamations.

I wondered if you had already substantiated your reputation as a reliable psychic. Or not.

Default Having plans

to bomb something or attack something is called conspiracy to commit terrorism here in the states. So I suppose we should wait until AFTER the attack to charge them? After all, having detailed plans to blow up the stock exchange is perfectly fine. I mean, who doesn't have such plans? I myself have numerous bomb making books and detailed plans to blow up lots of things. What's the big deal? One also supposes that if the plot were discovered, the 9/11 hijackers should have still been allowed on the planes since right before the attack they were only PLANNING to hijack the plane. They hadn't actually done so yet, so it's no problem, eh?
