Default Thank You, Germany

Convicted Sept. 11 Suspect Leaves Prison

Apr 7, 1:06 PM (ET)

By DAVID RISING

HAMBURG, Germany (AP) - The only person convicted in the Sept. 11 attacks was freed by a court Wednesday, pending the outcome of his retrial on charges of aiding the Hamburg al-Qaida cell that included three of the suicide pilots.

Mounir el Motassadeq, 30, smiled broadly as he left the Hamburg prison where he had been held since November 2001. He walked past reporters without comment before his friends and lawyer whisked him away in a car to an unknown location.

Lawyer Josef Graessle-Muenscher said el Motassadeq was returning to his wife and two children in Hamburg.

"When I went to pick him up, he was happy and smiling at me," the lawyer told reporters. "Now he's going home to his family.

Default -

Haven't read into the details of the case, but atleast Germany has done something concerning trying the 9/11 terrorists. The US has just bottled up suspects of something relating loosely to 9/11 up in Guantanamo, and they are not getting a fair trial or a trial at all for a long time.

Love the legal loophole of the entirety.

Default That's nice

why don't we just follow the Germans lead and let all the suspects go? That way when they attack us again we'll know for sure they did it. Because we need to have proof so that the liberals and democrats will be able to sleep at night. Wouldn't want to step on the rights of possible terrorists. That might make us lose all our freedoms and liberties.
Sorry! Just a little sarcastic moment for me.

Default Well not total truth

They wanted to finish the guy through legal court proceedings but alas the US would not let the one person that had the goods on the guy testify against him.

Explaining their decision, the judges said evidence for the main charges against el Motassadeq - more than 3,000 counts of accessory to murder - was no longer "urgent" because they lack testimony from an al-Qaida suspect in U.S. custody.

from that same article.

seems kinda funny to put all the blame on the Germans...Oh the outrage. You would think America would let the guy with all the information on the guy testify without him they apparently didn't have a case and don't believe in having some Gitmo type dungeon for people that they can't legally hold.

Default Thank you, America!

...for giving to the world such bright dopes as JP and others, who talk about "suspects" and keeping them imprisoned in the same breath.

Who breeds these democratic minded slugs? Are they living testament to the old Aristocratic viewpoint that the peasants should be allowed to govern themselves, for their own good?

To think these are the descendants of the founding fathers! These monkeys who haven't a clue what principles made America America; who have no concept of what makes freedom freedom.

After all that America has done and built; after leading the world not only in ingenuity, but just in general being revolutionary in an optimistic, non-fatalistic, 'can do' kind of attitude, maybe dopes like JP and that other bimbo, whatever her name is, are refreshing to the rest of the world with its inferiority complexes. With such specimens of illogic and irrationality, maybe the rest of the world will realize that there is hope for them too, if America can produce such vacuous neanderthals.

Default Whoops...

I meant should NOT be allowed to govern themselves for their own good (those peasants, that is).

While I'm at it, I might as well add something.

The problem with democracy is that every ape thinks he's an aristocrat and ultimately, turns all achievement and brightness to shlt. This is the dumbing down process. When everybody thinks they can be president, than every president will inevitably be a dope.

We deserve George Bush. In his shallowness, his spoiled, self-centred, silver spoon fed pre-pubescent arrogance, he is us, he reflects us, and he typifies us.

Rome should have descended to fast!

Default lets be fair now

His mother and wife said he wasn't involved, so that's it, case closed.

The only thing sillier than the German courts (a standard which is tought to beat) are the US officials that won't do what is necessary to keep this guy locked up.

other countries do have court procedures they have to abide by.

better this happening than news leaking out, that Germany kept him behind bars even though they shouldn't.

It's obvious you haven't seen the pictures and video from GITMO.

And what did you think we should have done, Richard: put the guy in U.S. custody on a plane and fly him over for the trial? And besides that, do you think these guys rat out on each other? Of course not.
This guy trained in Afghanistan and he was friends with 2 or 3 of the 9/11 hijackers. To me, if you trained in the Al Qaeda camp in Afghanistan, then you are al Qaeda. If you are al Qaeda, you are a freakin terrorist.
