Default Huge majority want us out.

Sixty-eight percent of voters polled favor withdrawing U.S. troops from Iraq in the next six months, according to the NPR poll.
The poll was conducted for NPR Dec. 7-10, 2006, by Public Opinion Strategies and Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research.

I wonder how much of a problem this is going to be come January. Ignoring the voters is a bad idea, but so is leaving. How much will the Democrats push W? This is going to get fun.

Default iraq

You've made a very valid point there Stekim. From a European point of view this is the time to support your president and help him get out. From what i've seen he's trying [met prime minister Blair the other day], and I don't think it would do anyone any good to play party politics with this issue.

Default Hand wringing

Yes, it will be interesting.

It will be funny to watch the Dem's wring their hands and do next to nothing.
They have already backed off of their campaign pledge to implement ALL of the 911 commission's recommendations. Something that they beat down Bush
for all these past months. I expect more of the same.

On the upside.
If they hose it up real bad, it may make some room for some viable 3rd
party to awaken and apply real pressure for change.

Default the media

I was against the war as were many people [no case:no threat]. Thousands marched on the streets of London. It was all hype by the media and now there telling us it was all a lie. The British powers that be might not care or take into consideration that march but I know for a fact they'll be retribution by the great Roman gods for it.

ps, If you backed the war under false pretences [arise arise in the house of commons] and are now saying it was wrong do the honourable thing and keep quiet.

Well, they can't really do anything other than pressure W. (Yes, they could remove funding, but that would never happen). The Dems don't call the shots here, the President does. They can make his life miserable, and I hope they do, but it's his decision. The public wants us out in 6 months. W doesn't think that's a good idea. If we don't leave and public opinion stays the same the GOP is done for in 2008. But if we do somehow leave, Iraq is screwed. Will the public blame the Dems for that even though the public got what it wanted? Or will the public blame the folks who got us into this stupid war in the first place?

I'll pass! Anyone associated with neo-cons or Bush has no shot of getting my vote.

The administration is changing for the better. Do you not think getting rid of Rumsfeld and bringing in Baker was a good sign?

ps, not all republicans or backers of Bush are "neo cons". i'e Rumsfeld Wolfowitz and all the other jew brigade. There are irish and Black supporters aswell [the one's that are aloud to vote of course]

Back Condi for president.

Actually, yes. But it also illustrated, yet again, some of Bush's major weaknesses. He's stubborn, pig headed and VERY slow to see the obvious. Yes, replacing Rumsfeld was great. Baker seems like a good guy and he'll do a much better job. But why in the hell did it take so long? Rumsfeld's incompetence was glaring for a long time.

Condi is a neo-con... one more radical than George W. Bush by far. If I don't like neo-cons in power... why the %$#$@# would I support Condi?
Do you believe that she is not a neo-con because she is black?
Do you know what a neo-con is?

She's not a "neo con", she's an academic, an ambassador, a scholar type figure, and did'nt get along with Rumsfeld if I remember correctly.

Whats Hillary gonna do to change the middle east?

Are you familiar with Dr. Rice's writings? I get a strange feeling that if she were in charge we would need a draft and to bust the bank to handle all the constant war she'd have us stuck in. And yes, she is a neo-con. I don't believe she feels shamed for it. Why do you feel the need to pretend she is not.
Realistically she couldn't manage to do the things she suggests in her writings. That might be part of why SHE'S NOT RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT.

Nothing. She's not going to be president.
But if she were, she'd probably leave most of the thinking to the experts she appoints. I think she understands that she is not a military genius (and I don't think Condi is either... She's more of a really smart ideologue).
