Default Laura Bush Sleeps During the Soft Parade

Laura Bush on Larry King: "...And many parts of Iraq are stable now. But, of course, what we see on television is the one bombing a day that discourages everybody."
One bombing a day, Laura? There were well over two hundred gruesome incidents in Iraq thus far this February! [unreported incidents go unnumbered]

Reported Carnage For Feb.

    Military Deaths:137

Is there no one at the White House paying attention?

Actually the original poster is correct. Its not uncommon for there to be thousands of attacks per month in Iraq. Even DOD sites will confirm this.

I believe our media can't possibly air all the destruction and all the incidents that happen in one day, so they just go with the most visual and largest ones they can find. After all, there's only 24 hrs in one day and they need to set aside SOME air time to cover important things like:
-Britney's underwear (or lack thereof)
-Britney's hair (or lack thereof)
-The ongoing saga of Anna Nicole Smith (fascinating stuff)
-The latest congressional debate on the next non-binding resolution
-Nancy Pelosi's jet
-Al Gore's Oscar

You know... the REALLY important things we care about.

They boil all the millions of incidents that happen in Iraq each day into one report, couple it with some "B-roll" of a burning hulk of a car in the middle of a crater and call it news. If there are some charred bodies nearby that's just icing on the cake.

I believe that's what Laura was alluding to... the constant negative drumbeat we've all come to know and love about our free liberal media.

Of all your long record of irrelevant ad hominem, this posting may just take the cake.
Below is a look at how often GIs get attacked per day in Iraq.
Quote:
In all of Iraq, attacks against allied troops last month (October '06)averaged 180 per day, up from 170 per day in September and 70 per day in January, General Maples said in written testimony. Daily attacks on Iraqi civilians averaged roughly 40 per day last month, four times higher than the average in January. General Maples also noted that recent operations in Baghdad had achieved only a moderate success, because after American officials had turned neighborhoods over to the Iraqis, “attacks returned to and even surpassed preoperational levels.”

Yes Laura, the people can't handle the truth. You better cheer them up.

She's not claiming anything of the sort. You're trying to put words in her mouth.

What she IS claiming is that only one aspect of the Iraq story gets out to the American public. Is that what you meant by the truth?

Default I'm drinking wine and eating cheese, and catching some rays

But ofcourse.. Queen Bush was speaking in french. Thanks for translating it for us, Senax. Lets recap..

"But, of course, what we see on television is the one bombing a day that discourages everybody." -Queen Laura "MarieAntoinette" Bush

Hear that, kids? The 'one bombing a day' is french for:

Heres an crazy idea tho... if she didn't mean 'one bombing a day', perhaps she should not have said it

You're absolutely right Ted. She was wrong to assume that everyone would understand the meaning behind her words. She should have taken into account the ability of some to be completely assinine with her very simple words. She failed to take into account the sheer stupidity of some who think they know better than she at what she was thinking and expressing. Her inability to grasp their contempt for her view, and the lack of understanding they're willing to afford her is just apalling.

While Little Laura clearly did mean to imply that there are more stories in Iraq than the blood puddles, she inadvertently made clear her Borg belief that things are going well there. The First Lady gets out of her depth when visiting topics beyond the Dewey Decimal System.
