My fellow Americans,
I'm tired of people calling Dubya "the worst president ever". Yeah, he's no Reagan or FDR, but come on. Most people alive right now don't know too much about EVERY president ever, so stop degrading W so much. If I remember correctly, Clinton wasn't such a grand president either. So lay off of our country's elected leader. |

William Henry Harrison, for example, caught a cold at his inaugural and died of pneumonia a month later. Likewise, James Garfield was assassinated six months into his term. Each of them (probably) had a shorter list of accomplishments than Bush. Andrew Johnson was barely literate and opposed Reconstruction efforts to guarantee former slaves the right to vote. Bush's level of literacy is (arguably) better than Johnson's and he has only implemented efforts to discourage and intimidate minority voters rather than to disenfranchise them, altogether. Of course, Johnson tried to implement Lincoln's vision as he understood it and incompetent as he was, he didn't approach Bush on that score. Herbert Hoover is another candidate for someone worse than Bush. Bush's job creation record is better than Hoover's, though not as good as any other President since then. And Hoover left the Great Depression for FDR to deal with. Apparently, Bush will do the same with Iraq. (By the way, in terms of stewardship of the economy, it's probably not a good idea to compare Shrub with Clinton who oversaw the longest period of sustained economic growth in over a hundred years.) Of course, at least by Republican standards, Hoover was far more successful in containing the Federal deficit than Bush has been. Of course, virtually every President has been more successful than Bush by that measure. Nixon is a tougher case. He had notable accomplishments, especially in his opening to China. On the other hand, his "secret plan" to end the Vietnam War didn't work out so well and there was that little Watergate problem. To his credit, though, Nixon had the grace and good sense to resign once his crimes were undeniable. Perhaps Shrub could do the same and improve his standing a little. Probably the best example of a President worse than Shrub is James Buchanan. He left office having declared he could do nothing about the secession of the Southern states and saddled his successor with a civil war to deal with. Again, Bush is likely to do the same, but the Civil War was undoubtedly worse than the war in Iraq, so Bush outpoints Buchanan on that one. Bottom line? Bush will probably never be seen as worse than Buchanan. Whether he'll outpoint William Henry Harrison in terms of accomplishments,, however, is a real question.

As far as Clinton goes---was he perfect? No, of course not--but he made some really excellent moves--can't argue the fact that America was in a far better place on almost every count in the 90s than it is now. I heard a study, actually, from several historians from different political backgrounds all of whom agreed Bush would go down in history as the worst president America's ever had.--And these were American history scholars... --Just putting that out there---

But you also have the right to say no you're wrong. but those ARE our rights. that's what makes it a free country that's what makes this good land America home of the free

I'm a pretty big bush fan but he is doing a bad second term
He had awesome policies his 1st term so good none of the politicians could touch him. But with his failed policy on illegal immigration is really pissing off the taxpayers such as myself The Iraq war is just something the media made up to try to get on the conservatives. We've lost 3,000 men not a big deal. We lost more men in the 1st 15 minutes of D-Day. I support the soldiers, I support the war, and i support the President. I dont support the president and congess interfering with the commanders. Let the generals dop their job and we can all go home!
