Default Larry Craig (R) Idaho: Perve-in-denial, to finish term.

Make it go away.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071005/...o/craig_senate

Judge denies Craig's attempt to withdraw a guilty plea

Quote:
"Because the defendant's plea was accurate, voluntary and intelligent, and because the conviction is supported by the evidence ... the defendant's motion to withdraw his guilty plea is denied," Hennepin County Judge Charles Porter wrote.
Quote:
He later said he "panicked" in entering his plea, believing that it would keep the matter quiet. The Idaho Statesman had been holding back an article on rumors about his sexuality, and Craig said in court papers that he feared the arrest would trigger the story.

Porter rejected that as a good reason to withdraw the plea. Any pressure Craig was under "was entirely perceived by the defendant and was not a result of any action by the police, the prosecutor, or the court," he said.

Minnesota law allows a plea to be withdrawn if a "manifest injustice" occurs, but leaves it to judges to define that. Porter ruled that none occurred in Craig's case.

"It is not a manifest injustice to force the defendant to be bound by his plea bargain and the waivers and admissions which he made in conjunction with the execution of that bargain," Porter wrote.

He also wrote that Craig hadn't produced any "newly discovered evidence" that would clear him.
The GOP won't like this development. Kudos to them for asking him to step down from his senior positions. In a fair world, this would not reflect badly on GOP leadership, they have done all the right things under these circumstances. Unfortunately for them, they will take heat for this. Craig is being selfish. He is at this point a joke and a burden.

And JP5 gets to eat crow, which is awesome, because her vaunted GOP now has a legit scumbag sitting in its roll-call just like the dems, which totally sucks, except none of the dems actually PLEADED guilty. Good job Craig uppin' the ante!

I laughed until I cried.

Shrug.. to be blunt its a non-story.
At worst you have someone soliciting homosexual sex.

I will note it is funny how anytime homosexuality comes into play it deemed worse by Democrats then screwing whores. But meh.

I also get a kick out of it being perverted...as if everyone making a big deal out of it isn't a pervert themselves.
OMG he asked about having SEX in the bathroom..OMG OMG.. PLEASE!
As if you wouldn't ask for it in some manner from some hot naked supermodel yourself.....or peek through the crack hoping to get a lil peek at the morning beaver and the bada booms.

Pity he's not a Democrat huh?....then he could
open up a whore house
wag his finger at us
get bribed
drive trashed
let people drown in his car.
..all while burning crosses.

I guess thats the magic of the (D)
...maybe he can switch parties?

Whatever...

I don't think he'll end up finishing his term. It won't be his choice.

Not at all. In fact, I believe homosexual acts to be just as disgusting as YOU apparently do. So that makes us on the same side of this issue. How 'bout that? Still laughing????

And since you apparently hate homosexuals so much----then why not work towards getting the Dem homosexuals out of Congress and the Senate????

Oddly enough, I have to go with Duh on this one. This isn't a story, and it shouldn't have been an arrest. Personally, I don't care if the dude was looking to get some action. Heck, that happens every day all over the world. Are you going to start putting undercover cops in bars to arrest all the guys (married or not) hitting on any available woman?

I feel bad for the guy because he made an stupid decision out of fear, but I don't think in this case the punishment fits the "crime".

I happen to agree. I don't care at all about his sex life. My issue was and is his hypocrisy. But if all hypocritical Congress members were forced to leave we'd have very few left. While I don't find it serious, I do find it funny.

Default i could care less

who he's shtupping.

in fact, I think it's hypocritical, in the extreme, for the Dems to call for his resignation.

GTFU.

We have a gay Republican governor here in Florida. I will be truthful, it's not openly acknowledged, but most of us realize it. Guess what? We don't give a rat's ass.

Nor should you. Unless he got elected, in part, on an anti-gay platform.

I don't care if Craig resigns or is forced to leave or not. Either way it will literally have 0% effect on anything. But I can see why many in the GOP want him out (the Dems just want him out because he's in the GOP). After all the bad press over the last few years, this is just a pain in the GOP ass. It's not that it's serious, it's just that it's a pain.

Do you think we will ever get to the point where we don't care where a man puts his penis as long as it's consensual?

I mean seriously, am I supposed to care? Because as long as it isn't in me, I don't.

We may get there eventually, but not any time soon. The religious right is still a force in this country and they tend to care what other people do. I don't know why, but they do. I will say this, however. I would prefer being able to pee without seeing or hearing two men having sex. Call me a prude.
