I do like Ron Paul. I'm considering voting him for him as a write-in. He's the only solidly fiscally conservative candidate in the GOP (Mitt Romney to an extent). The rest of them are big-government neo-cons.

I'm really not thrilled about the prospect of having to vote for McCain. He is, in essence, a pro-war Democrat, and I worry he'll run this country into bankruptcy.

I started out despising Hillary Clinton, but of the three viable candidates left (Obama, Clinton, McCain), Hillary Clinton may be (gasp?) the most fiscally conservative of the lot.

I do think Ron Paul is the best possible candidate to be the President of the United States. But alas, I do not think he has a chance now to win sadly. That being said, next Tuesday I'm still voting for him. I do not abandon my beliefs, convictions or morals just because the candidate in question doesn't necessarily have a chance of winning.

The rest of them scare me.

I have great respect for Ron Paul. He IS a true conservative.

As the video states he: "Returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the US treasury every year."

He's made a tactical error to constantly harp on the Iraq war. The reason being, such a large majority of Republican voters support it. But with that said, I do think that there should be room for debate on foreign policy within the Republican party. Conservatism cannot be defined by foreign policy stances. Each conflict and strategy is unique.

I will be voting for him in the primary but won't be writing his name in for the general election.

For all of those Republicans who respect Ron Paul, you should also check out the other Republican candidates that he has endorsed:

Murray Sabrin for Senate in New Jersey:

Brent Sanders for Congress in Louisiana:

BJ Lawson for Congress in North Carolina:

Ron Paul is a cool guy. I'd vote for him if I were voting Republican.

I sympathize with Paul's desire for a small and limited government with drastically reduced tax revenue. I don't trust government either. The problem is that this philosophy cannot possibly succeed without government intervention in the economy. The flawed notion that government should stay out of business is simply a cover for corporations and business becoming government. Conservatives whine about a welfare state they created.

I offer this chart for consideration: http://www.epi.org/content.cfm/webfe...shots_20060627

At the start of Reagan's administration, the average CEO of an Oil Company made roughly 70x more than the men working the pumps. Today, that figure is 800. This is simply not social justice, or fair distribution of wealth. The result is that many Americans have decided to simply not work, rather than become wage slaves in order to uphold even the most fundamentally basic comforts of modern life. Conservatives balk at this, and say the answer is to take away welfare, thus forcing the poor to become wage slaves as the only alternative to starvation. Ron Paul would even get rid of the food stamp program. This is insanity. The fact that the christian right is so blatant in its advocation for social darwinism is a deep irony and speaks to the profound philosophical confusion within the current conservative culture.

I agree with Paul on reducing government only after government takes a stronger hand in preventing corporations from oppressing its workers with unfair wealth distribution.

I hate how our view of Capitalism means that the rich rule the poor and can misuse their power to make or change laws that fit their greed. Yes Capitalsim is an open market, bu there is no reason one man should have millions or billions while a working class family needs 2 jobs just to make sure their kids are fed and safe.
I beleive Ron Paul would fight for this change.

His biggest tactical error was accepting money from a rabidly racist organization.

I might be able to get past his naive foreign policy, but I'll never get past this.

And what racist organization would that be?

For Ron Paul supporters, here is a new video I found about Ron Paul that is one of the best I've seen:

What is the point in that sarcasm? Generally, I respect your posts more than most people's here but your above statement is senseless. The idealists that support Dr. Paul are the type of people who see what type of stagnant, apathetic culture we are becoming whenever we could be improving so many things instead of settling for the lesser of 2 evils. Dr. Paul has always made it clear that "the revolution" is not limited to him and lives in the heart of fellow Americans that believe in the concept of freedom and individualism.
If you haven't already, please watch this video in it's entirety:

Especially at 04:56 in the video, as it is relevant to your comment on "the revolution".

It's true that he should have given that money back, but in the end the lobbyists for big oil, environmentalists, and other globalist corporations that support the other candidates actually do damage to us Americans while that narrow minded group of racists have virtually no impact on us. The money he received from them is like pissing in the ocean compared to the big bucks the main candidates receive from lobbyists that essentially write our laws today. Alas, that is the problem with Americans. They are swayed by television ads rather than ideals.

I hope that more libertarians view the Dr. Paul campaign as a chance to change the Republican party instead of focusing on the impotent 3rd party.
Ron Paul is more conservative than any other Republican candidate. While I don't completely support his foreign policies, conservatism is not defined by that issue. In fact that is an issue that too many Republicans today have used to define our ideology while ignoring the main issues that do define it while our candidates ignore these core principles.
