I think there's hope for us yet...
I'm a proud daddy tonight. My oldest son (12) is working on project for school; he has to "present" a political candidate in history class. We were online going over the various choices when he came across a political quiz he wanted to take.
He ended up taking several quizzes (I ended up bringing him here for the ones in the p.s. forum), and while I didn't agree with several of his choices he knew about the issues. When I asked him about his choices, he was able to defend them! And not with the usual preteen answers; instead of "I dunno" and "because" he gave me thought-out, logical answers.
Apparently these are common discussions in his history class and through out his school. The classes are having mock debates and learning to examine both the good and bad effects of various policies. Now, if this is happening in middle and high schools throughout the country, there might just be hope for us yet.
