Uh, not much expansion there. Could you perhaps give at least the reasons you think underlie the superficial reasons given?

How would elliminating the federal education program make education better? It would allow good schools to get better because of the extra money that people have but then public schools would not get enough funding in most areas, and therefore get worse. I don't think the states would make their schools better if the federal programs were elliminated because some states would try and cut their education programs as much as they could.

Some education would get better but it would split the schools into good private schools and bad public schools much more, and poorer families would normally go to the bad public schools.

Public Schools Suck!
Privatizing the school system would give the US a substancially worse education system than the rest of the developed world.

If a child is from a poor family, which can't afford private education, he would basically go no where in life. I don't think a child should have oppurtunities crushed just because of the family he grew up in.

so whats the difference? the eduaction still sucks, about 1/3 kids drop out before they even finish school, the majority of the ones that do finish are still pretty stupid, theyre not prepared for higher education. about 68% of highschool graduates go to college and half never complete it. less then a quarter of the population even gets a good education.

Default what is being taught

But part of the problem is that so many people strive for degrees simply because the job market/their parents demand them, yet so few of the jobs actually need those degrees. What someone learns in high school very rarely is even relevant at all. In other countries they there can be found many programs geared towards, and this may come as a shock, learning "useful things."

The Biggest Problem We Have With Our Education System Is The "N E A"
Getting Rid Of The Nea Would Be The First Step, Which Opens The Door To Stopping The Waiste And Corruption Which Has Permiated Our Schools.
When The Local Community Is Allowed To Monitor Our Schools The Rats Will Run From Their Sinking Ship, Rats Gone---problem Solved !

HELLO----
Bad public schools controlled by the NEA
Good private schools no NEA

Our failing school system is just another example of how we have let the unions control and diminsh our quality of life in America.

The voucher system is a good idea in theory, but, ill conceived. However a good attempt to do an 'end run' around the real problem, which is social fascists in control of our schools. Its like BillyBob said LIbs don't like it because they loose control, Conservetive don't like it because it doesn't fix the problem, (just puts a bandade on it)
Wake up America ! We the People can fix this,(and a lot of our other problems) Stand up to the unions and the Socialists that control them !

So by standing up to unions and socialists you can somehow magically fix something? Sounds like rhetoric, not an actual course of action.

The last thing America needs to to weaken unions. Next thing you know wages are going down, job security is out the door, and teachers are going to migrate to Britain or Canada where they can be respected again.

Unions aren't the problem, its the central control of the education at the federal level which is the problem.

private schools are doing much better then public schools in the US.. why is that? could it be because the government isnt interfering to the levels of public schools? seriously... eithe privatize the schools system or start firing incompetent teachers. i dont understand why people try to argue that public schools are good.. i graduated from a public school 2 years ago i know theyre a joke. theyre a waste of money.

we spend an average of $900 a month on each child for schooling... thats more then enough for monthly tuition for private schools(without room and board).
