They also hate Rush because until he arrived on the scene the liberal media was the only game in town and nobody questioned them.

I think Rush is a blow hard, but I actually agree with this statement you made. I forget what the name of the law was that was in place,(something about restricting partisan speech on the radio) but essentially after it got lifted, Rush was the first guy that burst onto the scene and really started letting loose with a partisan point of view. He also played a big role in 1994 when Republicans won back control of Congress. I actually listen to Rush on an almost daily basis during my lunch break. I get an hour and usually just sit in the car and listen to his program. I dont really agree with him on probably 70% of what he says, however its an entertaining program and he has every right in the world to say what he wants to say. The law I was thinking of is that law that the Democrats are trying to get re-enacted, im just having a brain fart right now and cant think of what its called. Just so you know, I actually think its a B.S. law. People should have the right to have a biased opinion on the radio. Besides Fox News the rest of the TV media is MOSTLY (not all) Liberal. If Democrats want more of a voice on the radio they need to get some hosts that dont suck. When I had Satellite radio I tried listening to Air America but it wasn't very entertaining so even though I dont like them as much I listened to Rush and Hannity. There are some really good Liberals to host these shows, they just need to get them on the air. Complaining about the Republicans dominating the radio isnt going to do any good.

It's not a question of feelings. It's a question of reality. He's a very successful entertainer--that much is undeniable. I think it bugs liberals most of all that he is a success because its counter to everything they think about society. If the US was truly so leftist, then there should be no way in hell that this guy should be as popular as he is. But the simple truth is, no one forces people to tune into his show. So people are choosing to listen to him.
And one thing I will note about him, is that no matter how much he disagrees with the left, the doesn't stoop to making debasing comments calling people a "monkey" because they don't share his view. But I see that trend a lot among liberals. If you don't agree it must be because you are ignorant, uneducated, or hoodwinked into your views. You couldn't possibly disagree if you weren't being manipulated or deceived. Without even trying, he appeals more to the every day American Joe than most people in politics today. Else he wouldn't have the number 1 talk show on the radio today. |
