I turn my television on at 6 a.m. and it stays on the news until I go to bed at night. And lately it seems more and more that those we have elected to represent US seem to representing themselves. Also it seems like with every bill passed we are becoming less of a free nation.

We stopped being a free nation a long time ago and dubya's administration exponentially increased the tyranny. Congress and the Executive Branch are looking out for themselves and the corporate interests that pay for their campaigns. The government is corrupt and as all eventually do, will fall. We are seeing the last gasps of an unsustainable, corrupt system

This country crossed lines the redefined the freedom and voices of the people of the United States long ago. It did not start with just one president, but with the muted voice and mighty pen of many. The last stroke that brought this young nation’s once great proclaimed “Land of the free” to a sudden and grated halt. Was the ‘for the government only’ Homeland security’ in which privacy is no longer private to any American. It was bad enough when some states would not only fine but also sentence you for having of all things oral sex in the privacy of your bedroom (if a peeping Tom or snooping neighbor) were to look into your bedroom window.

But now to keep people and a country gullible the government created “Homeland Security” a human terror level trigger guaranteed to keep the majority eating out of the hands of those that would take away your freedom of rights. There is also this, every nation throughout history no matter what great foundation it started with turns corrupt and forgets it’s true aim and goal. When you add into the mix big corporation playing bigger parts in that nation instead of the people voted into office by the people, you can pretty much kiss your free nation bye bye.

Now I know there will be those that will heartily and hotly claim that we are not the above. But they either do not want to see the truth facing them or they or so engrossed in the making of this new country truth is the last thing they will ever admit to. Sadly America is not immune to this growing process that moves it from a Democratic country to one of a closed communist or worse country. It’s the facing of it and trying dang hard not to let it happen that shows this country at least cares not to let it happen. But the people seem to have grown to ‘depend’ on the government to do it all. Forgetting that the Constitution states that it is incumbent upon us the people to keep our state senate in check so that when they go to Washington to represent us they speak for us and not their selfish wants and needs. After all it is “WE” the people that created the senate and congress seats in Washington, and it is “WE” the people that there people then answer to. Why have we stopped making them answer to us then?

In the end it is no political side that has taken the freedom from the United States of America, but we the people that stop demanding the government answer to us like they once did. We can’t expect freedom to just hang around and be on hand at all times, if you stop fighting for it and making sure it has room to thrive, it gets lost and smothered. Free nations require their people to stay on top, we have gotten lazy and allowed the government (who are embedded in corporations) to decide the fate of this countries freedom.

The End of an Error

I have to ask how old are you because at 45 I recognized the loss of our freedoms 20 years ago after I had a couple opportunities to vote and watch the politician LIE about everything they stood for while running.

Then I'd say you are a intelligent, observant human being with one foot ahead of most people. Keep paying attention and point things out when you see them happening. There are many here that won't call you crazy for your beliefs, then there are a few that will.

Question reality!

I take it from trying to read your blog spot that your a 24 year old stay at home mother?

First of all if I may comment totally honestly here having the news on all day for children to be exposed to is not something I would do as a parent. They lose their innocence all to fast as it is nowdays why expose them to the adult world before we have to?

Secondly the News is little more than fluff nowdays. If you really want to know what the elected representation is up to you have to watch them in action which you can do every day on cspan which I assume you have because if you have news all day you must have cable. Cspan is a free service that covers the hearings in Washington from both the senate and the congress.

As a aside if your a news junkie and I certainly can understand that because I am too, cspan being on the TV will be much less likely to expose the children to things they shouldn't hear. The congress and the senate are not likely to be talking about Paris Hiltons and Britnney spears latest drunken escapades like the news will. Or the latest sensational murder case.

Cspan is serious civics and would probably bore most children so much they wouldn't listen to it.

As to your assertion that our elected officials are representing themselves. I am sure this happens. But not lately. A few weeks of cspan hearings and you'll notice that there are a lot of good intentioned people in Congress and the Senate that have been trying to find ways to clean up this mess the Bush administration is leaving the country in.
