Also I believe that the only "qualification" to carry a firearm in America is to, well, to be here. I dislike the notion of "prohibited persons", frankly.

Agreed, we'd see a reduction in "gun crime" by more than what 75%? Violent crime across the board would drop.

One of my chief reasons for wanting drugs legalized is to reduce the pressure on the 2nd amendment. Drug violence is being used effectively by those wishing to restrict legal ownership. Doesn't matter that it's a false argument, it's use is effective.

I've never said I would like guns restricted I want gun deaths reduced. But decriminalizing and even legalizing some drugs would go a long way in accomplishing this. But I also believe pro gun people are also pro "tough on crime" people which gets translated into putting every little offender into prison for long terms and no bending on drug laws.

I agree totally.

I think that America needs a "coming together" of people focused on the true meanings of liberty, individual freedom and natural rights rather than focusing solely on the application of those traits to their lives.

I have friends that are staunch supporters of the RKBA and the Constitution, yet they support mandatory minimum sentences, the militarization of our police force in their "war" on drugs, harsh penalties, drug dog's sniffing in parking lots and various other encroachments on civil liberties.

On the other hand, I have friends that engage in various recreational drug use and they preach about freedom, their right to control what substances they put in their bodies and how that right brings about the responsibility for any actions undertaken while under the effect of those drugs. They talk about civil liberties, the growing police state, forfeiture laws, no-knock warrants, the expanding prison population due to non-violent drug offenders, the costs of engaging in this losing war. Yet, when I bring up guns or when they notice or remember that I'm carrying, they preach about how dangerous guns are, how the police and military should be the only armed entities, the various arbitrary and capricious restrictions they'd apply on various types of firearms, their opposition to the notion of individuals carrying sidearms on their persons in public, and the whole melange of typical statist, leftist, anti-freedom mantra.

Fortunately for America, these people are starting to see past the partisanship, past the labels, past the divisive attitude the media and academia push, and they are starting to understand the real concept of rights. The live-and-let-live attitude is spreading! People are understanding that the Constitution doesn't just protect their hobbies, interests or rights it protects everyone's rights. This realization brings with it, usually, the awareness that the solution lies not with the Republican party line or the Democratic party line, but with the Constitution and the principles of our Founding Fathers.

If our Republic is to survive, we've got to get more people to understand this. When each "side" is working against each other, it's really just a two pronged attack on the Constitution. We need to work from within the Constitution to isolate and exterminate the forces that are working against our rights, our liberty and our security.

Here is the video from the COTErack blog that I told you about. It is very well done, and has some great signs that everyone from both sides should appreciate.

The 9/12 project in DC: The story the media and the government didn't want you to see. Hundreds of thousands of Americans from all over the country gathered to collectively say enough is enough WE THE PEOPLE are in control of this country, not the government. Those in attendance were there to protect the liberties and freedoms established by our forefathers in the Constitution. Please visit COTErack.COM for the full story and more pictures and videos from the event. Please share with everyone you know, but always link to COTErack.COM-Enjoy

The George Washington sign is childish. Why should I (or anyone) appreciate that?

It's funny how Fox is bragging every night about how many viewers they have and always touting they are the most watched news network in the country and then right wingers turn around and say the story the media refused to tell. Well it sounds like Fox is the only media people watch. So is this yet another propaganda line to motivate right wingers?

BTW, Sparks, I did laugh when I saw the George Washington sign (you have to admit it was kind of funny), however I wasn't going to waste my time watching 10 minutes of Mississippi Burning part 2.
