Default 400,000 = the number of vets looking for PTSD help

Troops Return to Painful Wait for Needed Help
by Andrew Weaver and Ray McGovern

The California Nurses Association reported that in the first quarter of 2006, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs "treated 20,638 Iraq veterans for post-traumatic stress disorder, and they have a backlog of 400,000 cases." A returning soldier has to wait an average of 165 days for a VA decision on initial disability benefits, and an appeal can take up to three years.
This is unacceptable and reprehensible

So how much of Bush's new Iraq war budget will go towards this? My bet ios zip zilch and nada seeing as under his watch it has taken Don Imus to get anything done for the returning troops. As a president this man is criminal as a commander in cheif he is criminally negligent.

Default yeah, 20+ thousand doesn't equate with 400k

Believe me, I feel your pain, and I have a good bud that's hospitalized for this reason, just now.

But I think you need to get your numbers in line.

You know, if we had 400k troops in Iraq, we could probably "win" this thing....

Actually the 400,000 is the total number of vets who are looking for help with this issue not just the Iraq war, although according to the experts we will see more (PTSD) from this war then any other thank sin large part to the huge number of maimed survivors.

Default Vets

From Nam are still trying to get help
so I don't think 400,000 is out of line.
And I pity the troops today, from this
I support the TROOPS president. A line
of B.S. and lip service. I'd like to see
him be required to spend more then a
few hours in a V.A. hospital, to get a
Real sense of the needs our troops. Not
just his Photo Op's
