Default US Navy Missile Destroyer Arrives in Japan

US Navy missile destroyer arrives in Japan
1 hour, 39 minutes ago

TOKYO (Reuters) - A U.S. Navy guided missile destroyer with the navy's most advanced combat weapon system arrived in Japan on Saturday as tensions surrounding North Korea's missile tests remained high.

The USS Mustin, equipped with missile tracking and engaging systems and with a crew of 300, will be permanently deployed at the navy's Yokosuka base in Tokyo Bay, U.S. Navy spokeswoman Hanako Tomizuka said.

Default "Kim Jong hiding under the bed."

I don't think he's 'hiding', but he certainly realizes that our interception of his missiles over the open seas is our only overt military option. Still, it's not enough to deter him from continued mischief. He knows his missiles are junk and will remain so for a long time to come. It's the thought that counts, as they say. It's his act of firing them in the general direction of his enemies that's pissing us and the Japanese off.

So, I'm sure Kim Jong Il doesn't really care if his junky rockets get shot down. He WOULD care, a whole heap in fact, if we knocked out his missile bases. Now THAT would grab his attention, but we can't do it, as everyone knows. China would throw a fit, intimate hostilities toward Taiwan, South Korea and Japan, and we'd find ourselves in an untenable position. In tactics, one usually tries to discern WHERE he should go BEFORE moving. We have nowhere to go. And PLEASE don't gimme any of that 'ECONOMIC SANCTIONS' horsehockey. WE ARE WAY BEYOND THAT.

Through all this, remember ONE THING: if China wanted to, it could stop all this nonsense by ordering NK to stand down; but it doesn't. WHY?

IMO, China is reaping a strategic advantage AGAINST us through the proxy mischief of NK. One of these days we're gonna find a "Made in China" nuke in some dead Al Qaeda terrorist's rucksack.

What? You realize Japan is "right next door" to North Korea", right?

A Missile Destroyers needs a little distance from its target to get a track and take it down...

Default .

If three carrier battle groups, a B-2 stealth bomber, and 16 F-18s didn't make N.K. think twice about launching missiles, I don't think one destroyer will make much difference

China is benefiting from all this. And I am sure they aren't worried about being nuked by North Korea. Just as I am sure they are benefiting from the Iran situation and aren't going to back sanctions.
