Default US generals ‘will quit’ if Bush orders Iran attack

SOME of America’s most senior military commanders are prepared to resign if the White House orders a military strike against Iran, according to highly placed defence and intelligence sources.
Tension in the Gulf region has raised fears that an attack on Iran is becoming increasingly likely before President George Bush leaves office. The Sunday Times has learnt that up to five generals and admirals are willing to resign rather than approve what they consider would be a reckless attack.
“There are four or five generals and admirals we know of who would resign if Bush ordered an attack on Iran,” a source with close ties to British intelligence said. “There is simply no stomach for it in the Pentagon, and a lot of people question whether such an attack would be effective or even possible.”
A British defence source confirmed that there were deep misgivings inside the Pentagon about a military strike. “All the generals are perfectly clear that they don’t have the military capacity to take Iran on in any meaningful fashion. Nobody wants to do it and it would be a matter of conscience for them.
“There are enough people who feel this would be an error of judgment too far for there to be resignations.”

It looks like the traitors extend into the highest reaches of the US military. It means that if Bush did order an attack, he'd be certain to face chimpeachment proceedings and possibly be handed over to the war crimes court at the Hague.

it's about time the top military people found the balls to stand up to daddy's boy, if they had done this over iraq the U.S. wouldn't be in half as bad shape as it is now...

Only a Liberal would try to spin cowards and quitters as having "balls." Thankfully, those whiners are in an extreme minority. "Up to five generals and admirals are willing to resign" means what...............one?.........two? Wanna bet those are Democrat left-overs from Clinton's regime of malfeasance?

Why do the Conservatives preach that "if the Generals don't agree with the Policy they should resign."

And whine when some threaten to do so?

Obviously this set of Generals have something to say but feel that it can only be said if they were no longer serving.

Default Reporting may be bad, but an Iran attack will never happen

It does sound like yellow journalism, for which the British tend to indulge in... Still, whether the facts are correct or not, I believe an attack on Iran would bring massive adverse reaction in the military, in Congress, and in the country at large. With so many senators now trying to re-write the original declaration of war on Iraq, I am quite sure Congress would never authorize any money for an attack on Iran.

Personally the odds of a US invasion against Iran are minutely small. I only hear Chaney doing a little saber rattling, with his comments of "all options are on the table". I think the White House has Chaney sending up some trial balloons to see what kind of feedback he gets from the US public and the world at large. Right now, the feedback is distinctly negative.

After all the whining and crying by Democrats that Bush doesn't obey them and their media, do you really want to claim that Bush is now testing the waters for approval? You people really seem to be in some severe disarray.

Default We have every right and reason to invade Iran BUT!!!!!!!!

Let;'s discuss this logically! My remarks are tempered with this preamble - AT THIS TIME We are in no position, at this time, to invade Iran and we would get any other "ally" to join us with the exception Isreal. If we were stupiid enough to try and the Isreali's were stupid enough to join us that wouyld cause such a reaction in the Muslim world that we coluld actually trigger WW III.

Now does this mean that we have no reason or right to invade Iran. No it does not. We have every right and reason to do so but the little king w placed us in a poeition were we are involved in a civil war in Iraq and we do not have the resources to invade Iran - at this time.

I also believe that even the little king w knows that he is in no condition politically, militarilly, or any other way is he in a position to invade Iran.

So those of you who would lke to beat up on Iran as I would you can send all of the NEO CONS and the little w a THANK YOU!!

Default Generals

I really don't like this. First the public is being un-cooperative and unsupportive of the war on terror and now we have certain generals not knowing what they are doing.
