Default Time off denied for US troops

http://www.navytimes.com/news/2007/0...aqrest_070618/

Quote:
Instead, commanders are trying to give troops two to three days inside heavily fortified bases after about eight days in the field, said Brig. Gen. Joseph Anderson, chief aide to the ground forces commander in Iraq, Lt. Gen. Raymond Odierno.

“We would never get the job done of securing [of Baghdad] if we went out for three months and came back” for one, Anderson said.
He kinda has it backwards - you go IN for 3 and OUT for 1 - HOWEVER.....

"We would never get the job done?"

Yeah, like we're getting it done now!

Maybe if this "General" were to get back in the front lines and fight like generals in the past rather than sitting in his hotel with his personal staff then he'd get the idea.

Quote:
U.S. forces in Iraq spend more time in continuous combat without a break than those who fought in Vietnam and World War II, according to Army psychologists who studied troops in Iraq.
So much for those who compare civilian deaths and casualties and rapes and murders to something that happens in every war - can't have it both ways.

Default hmmmmmmmmmmm

One of my nephew was ran over with a vehicle over there and hurt his back real bad. He was returned home to his wife and three kids to recover and when he did then he went to work for the police department. When the military learned of this then they sent him a letter saying if he was well enough to go to work then he is well enough to return to the military. Now he feel like they are saying the only way for him to return back home to America is when he goes home in a sealed coffin.
When is Bush going to send his daughters who are of the apt age for military to go over there and fight??? I noticed that warhawks that make war always have only daughters as like Lyndon Johnson-two daughters and is a Texan. Richard Nixon-two daughters and is a republican [a pretty word for crook].

I don't know how long I can read anti-american stories from family members of the military - have you no shame?

Default come on now.

Chemo, are you seriously still trying to peddle that Anti-American crap? Being against the war isn't being anti american. Can you back up this claim? If the guy who fought in the war doesn't want to go back and one of his relatives takes up the cause for him how is that shameful? Because he cares about his nephew? Or because he's against the war you don't like him and don't care? I'd really like to know.

Default nothing new....

Not the first time troops have had their time off or leave cut....check these out...

The first of these is from April, so this is by no means a new thing. It does show that the U.S. simply does not have the resources to conduct dual campaigns in Afghanistan and Iraq without seriously over-stretching their manpower.
