US Military Records 2,688 Sexual Assaults

The US military has recorded 2,688 cases of sexual assault involving its staff, 60 percent of which were allegations of rape, a study says.

AFP reported that the majority of the cases 72 percent involved military victims, covering the period from October 2006 to September 2007, based on a Department of Defense finding released on Friday

How many sexual assaults are alleged in the average city with a half a million population? Better yet. How many convictions?

According to analysis by FOX News, the murder rate among vets is seven per 100,000. In the same age group, among civilians who live in the USA, it is 40 per 100,000. Therefore, the military murder rate is actually 82 percent lower than the civilian murder rate.

on the Department of Justice Web site, Bill, in 2005 in that 18 to 34 demographic, almost 9,000 young American civilians here at home were murdered. That's more than twice the number of KIA in all our wars since 9/11.

The US population is 301,139,947

Thats more than 2.5 rapes per 1000 people. The militarys sexual assault rate is 1.8 per 1000. Note that I only included civilian rape not all forms of civilian sexual assault! If I did that the civilian number would be way higher then the military!

Concludsion: Civilians commit .7% more rapes than the military does sexual assault!
