These two stuck to tthe talking points really well, and they avoided any discussion of policy. So they "did their duty" really well and we don't want anyone talking that might actually think about their orders or even discuss their orders.

We need two guys who will claim violence is down and then not say anything else.

Why would we want to have more people express express a broader view of opinion about a topic as important as a war that is killing our soldiers?

Why would he testify? (IIRC) He had not had boots on deck in over a year. All he had is reports from lower. If you want to know how a rifle is working, are you going to ask the grunt that uses it every day, or are you going to ask his CO that has not touched one in over a year?

That and the fact that he had issue with Petraeus. I doubt much would be discussed if they were in the same room together. After the surge started Fallon distanced himself from the goings on in Iraq and just did what he had to do to skate by.

Why should he testify?

For a critical view of the surge from somebody who's legacy isn't tied to it.

I know that if you want to fully understand a subject, you get several opinions. If the subject is as complicated and diverse as a war, then maybe get some informed, but varying opinions.

I know when I spent $1M on computer software, I did more than just as the guy that sold ot to me how well it would work... I talked to others that had implemented it. I read independent reviews. I tried to find out opinions of people who were not deeply vested in the software... Well we are not talking about $1M. We are talking about hundreds of BILLIONS of dollars and possibly a thousand or more lives being sacraficed...

Maybe we should get more than two guys opinions, both of whom were hand picked for this policy.

They don't give a crap what Admiral Fallon has to say. He rejects the defeatist Far Lefts crap. They simply want him there so the Democrats would have had someone to use to spiel out their defeatism.

IOW after spinning "LISTEN TO THE GENERALS" and then ignoring and mocking the Generals... they are back to overtly using the Genrals(in this case an Admiral) but they don't give a rats behind what he has to say. He's a prop to them just like all those who have died... a big nothing.




They tried it last time with Petraeus and got a backlash...now they have to face Petraeus again. Whe there is absolutely no doubt whatsoever the Surge worked and they where 100% WRONG.

April 8th I believe is the hearing with Petraeus..Democrats better not pull what they did last time or the American people will hang them by their nuts.

The point of the surge was to provide a higher degree of safety so that Iraq can reconcile.

There is certainly a higher degree of safety, but Petri concedes that political reconciliation, the whole point of the surge, has been insufficient.

The operation's success continues to be entirely in the hands of the Iraqis.

Saying "the surge worked" is just like saying "mission accomplished" 5 years ago: Counting chickens before they hatch.


What's the exit strategy?

But do you ask the guy that had little to do with the software? Or did you ask someone that had a good first hand working experience with it?
