Barry's surrender plan:

I introduced a plan in January that would have already started bringing our troops out of Iraq, with a goal of removing all combat brigades by March 31, 2008. If the President continues to veto this plan, then ending this war will be my first priority when I take office.

I agree with the OP here. Staying there gives rallying point for Al-Qaeda and brings them closer to realising their dream of 'bogging the US in a never ending insurgency to drain it power.'

(The article is long but it's shocking how prophetic it is)

I despair of the neo-cons. The invasion and occupation of an Arab country will, in fact, aid in the recruitment of al-Qaeda. Anybody who doesn't believe that is living in a neo-con fantasy world.
