Hate preacher Anjem Choudary has claimed he is proud to receive £25,000 a year in benefits from the British taxpayer because the money 'belongs to Allah'.

You can't make this stuff up.

Anyways, while I think the man is clearly a complete (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*), he is within his right to say whatever he likes, regardless of what benefits he receives. Nothing to do about it, really.

BTW, Could you please give a source for these news? 250,000 punds a year sounds like an exaggeration.

I'm still confused, why is he receiving this money?

Not likely to be all in his hand for spending.

If he has family, and I think he does, then he would get so much for himself and wife and additional payments for the children...plus rent and community charge relief ..and the child benefit may well be included in the total.

If you live in the South of England, rent and council tax benefits tend to be quite a large proportion of total benefits received.
