It's possible that the SNP's election win occurred due to dissatisfaction with the Labour/Liberal Democrat Scottish Executive and not because of any rise in Scottish nationalism.

If the Scottish people want independence and sovereignty, then I think the Westminster government should let them. But I doubt there is much evidence that Scottish people overwhelmingly desire to become a sovereign state.

Besides, if a US state decided to secede, then would you speak out against it? If the Westminster government "oppresses" Scotland, then wouldn't the US federal government be "oppressing" the state if it wanted to secede?

I guess that the Scottish people, for good reason, are not interested in becoming an EU-province. Re-gaining their national independence would get them out of the whole Orwellian Super State thing.The British have already surrendered most political rights and powers to the monster in Brussels!
