Have you heard that joke about new Latvian president? During accreditation of new ambassador of Nigeria in Latvia Mr. Zalters didn’t shake him the hand to general bewilderment. I just don’t think that it is very funny. Seemingly fastidious Dr. Zatlers had read too much about African infections. I won’t surprise if he would order to disinfect all our African guests and to confine their movement in Latvia. For I rarely see any in streets of Riga. And I work here for almost two years. So it is astonishing that respected Rene van der Linden has noticed that Russians in Latvia have less rights than Afro-Americans in USA in segregation period. They even haven’t Latvian citizenship and can’t vote.
And present Latvian president isn’t going to improve their matters. On contrary Valdis Zatlers is far-famed as convinced fascist and racist. And that “amusing incident” with ambassador of Nigeria is not exception but rule. Now he disregards openly PACE opinion. He’s disgrace personified for all European Union. I think that European and African states shouldn’t acknowledge him as president of European country. Moreover they should declare him and rascals of his kind personas non grata.
