The US clearly has more "elite" institutions. But its better to be well-rounded than to be front-loaded in my opinion.
Yeah, thats not vague at all.

Quote:
Only very few people go to top-10 institutions, its a poor representation of what the education in the US is actually like.
I agree actually. But to say Americans are stupid is equally myopic. The best schools in the world are not Canadian.

Quote:
Even your source has published a list of the stats for the top-500. If you do the per capita math, Canada has you beat yet again.
How many top 25 universities does Canada have per capita?

Quote:
If you want to win the top-10, then great, I'm sure no one will mind.
It isn't a matter of winning. Its just a matter of facts. And the hard fact is that the US is the center of the world where higher education is concerned. No one goes to Canada to get the best higher education.

Quote:
But you lose everywhere else
I guess we will have to learn to live with the fact that we only have the best higher education in the world. We'll find a way to pick up the pieces.

BRASILIA (Nov. 27) - Iceland has overtaken Norway as the world's most desirable country to live in, according to an annual U.N. table published on Tuesday that again puts AIDS-afflicted sub-Saharan African states at the bottom.

Rich free-market countries dominate the top places, with Iceland, Norway, Australia, Canada and Ireland the first five but the United States slipping to 12th place from eighth last year in the U.N. Human Development Index.

Lots of reasons I'm sure, but the most obvious reason being: Convenience. USA is next door to Mexico.

Iceland is, well... it's a volcanic ISLAND the middle of the NORTH ATLANTIC.

You think these Mexicans coming here illegally are going to purchase plane tickets and fly to Iceland?

You need not go to one of the best to receive a high quality education. Its been made quite clear that the quality standards of Canadian universities is higher than in the US.

But the overseas students still come here, probably because as I have proved the overall quality of the academics here is better. They also get more bang for the buck, which is a nice bonus.

We have 1 institution. Which is obviously lower than the US, but still better than most countries.

The best in your narrow view. If you look at all the universities, after the top-100 or so the quality of your institution falls off fast. For the sake of most of your students, you should start picking up the pieces.

according to this site, canada arrives on the comparative screen at number 25

but let us not disparage canada too much, it does have a place of honor as having more incidents of antisemitism than russia!
which is understanding since canada is well know for its response to helping the jews during the holocaust. the response was:

NONE IS TOO MANY

canada is also well know for those estimable welfare gulags, the depositories of the indigenous.

Apparently that has not been made clear to any of the people that actually rank universities, heh heh

So you seem to be alone in your opinion.

Not as often as they come here.

They might. But if they want the best, they dont go to Canada.

I dont recall arguing otherwise. I never said Canada was a third world country where education was concerned. You were the one claiming Canadian education is better than in America. Obviously it is not at the university level. That was my only argument.

This is one of the few piѕѕing contests on here that was not started by me. You made a claim, and I explained to you why your claim was wrong, and provided evidence.

Oh yeah, if you take away all our best universities, we cant compete, heh heh.

Quote:
The top ten in order are: (1) The University of London; (2) The University of South Africa; (3) The University of Phoenix; (4) The University of Texas; (5) The University of South Australia; (6) The University of Southern Queensland; (7) The University of Maryland University College; ( Golden Gate University; (9) Ellis College of NYIT; and (10) Stanford University.
with it own criteria

http://www.expertclick.com/NewsRelea...etail&ID=17018

for NONE IS TOO MANY

see source for an intro. you will find this graph at the site.

Country..................Number of Jewish refugees brought in:
United States........................200,000
Palestine..............................125,000
Britain...................................70,000
Argentina...............................50,000
Brazil.....................................27,000
China.....................................25,000
Bolivia and Chile.....................14,000
CANADA..................................5,000

for my claim that canada has more antisemitic events than the home of antisemitism, russia, i dumped it here some where.

here it is: my only caveat is that it be understood that we are talking on a per capita basis to level the playing field of hatred.

two things need to be noticed. 1. the two dominate "groups" of canada, the english and the french are well represented int the land of hate and that although they absolute numbers are higher than canada, oh canada, the per capita would be lower.
