Default "Best Country to Live In" List, 2007

Iceland Named Best Country to Live In
Reuters
Posted: 2007-11-27 16:05:25

BRASILIA (Nov. 27) - Iceland has overtaken Norway as the world's most desirable country to live in, according to an annual U.N. table published on Tuesday that again puts AIDS-afflicted sub-Saharan African states at the bottom.

Rich free-market countries dominate the top places, with Iceland, Norway, Australia, Canada and Ireland the first five but the United States slipping to 12th place from eighth last year in the U.N. Human Development Index.

Default .

You can determine "the best country to live in" simply by averaging life expectancy, educational levels and real per capita income?

Well, it is the UN...

Hmm using that criteria... I wonder how individual states would do if the USA was broken up.

I've been there! The food is merely average. And everything is expensive as hell. And I don't even need to mention the cold and lack of sunshine for much of the year.

On the other side, it's gorgeous, it's clean, there's virtually no crime of any kind, the standard of living is high (they have next to no poor people), and the women are freakin' killer.

Everything considered I'd prefer the U.S., but if I were born in Iceland I would likely never move here.

I know huh.. ::sighs:: I miss living in a place where I can leave my bike at the bus stop and not worry about it being stolen. heheh one time I dropped my gloves at the bustop and found it the next day. Laundered.

ick now I'm homesick. Dang.. I must (edited for language) hate winters a lot to put up with living in Florida.

Default Names

They've got names in Iceland like Svavar Knutur Kristinsson or Thorvaldur Flemming Sigurleifsson. What kind of sadistic parent would name their kid Tryggvi?
