Default U.S., Poland agree on air defense system

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,327592,00.html

But why are we once again defending the ungrateful euroweenies? As the sweden post made clear, they seem to be eagerly working to become the western branch of the caliphate as soon as possible. The US should probably intercept and missiles originating in the middle east and aimed at eastern europe, but let the other ones pass.

Um, isn't protecting Britain quite important, America's greatest, most capable ally? The French and Germans have both elected Atlanticists. Merkel and Sarkozy want to work with America.

The thing is, with this one we are just confirming Russian fears (in their mind and my one as well) which American moves towards achieving Nuclear Primacy again. Bush & Co. (namely the Neo-Conservative element within the administration) have been dreaming of this for decades.

Don't believe me, here are some sources:

http://www.foreignaffairs.org/200603...r-primacy.html
http://belfercenter.ksg.harvard.edu/...s_primacy.html
http://www.newamericancentury.org/st...principles.htm
(Look at the names at the bottom of the last one )

The scary element involved is the fact that by having Nuclear Primacy, others will want to undermine in all ways possible...... It will provoke another arms race. The gears are already in motion.

Nuclear Primacy is a nice idea, but I doubt all the other nuclear armed countries will just bow down to American superiority, it's not like were going to nuke them when they start trying to find a way to break the system.

This is what you should be worried about, not the 'wasting' of American tax dollars defending the 'Euroweenies' as you so eloquently said Blade. These 'Euroweenies' are in fact the next largest contributors to American actions in the Middle East:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:C..._30_Apr_04.jpg

So protecting the 'Euroweenies' might be a bad idea, America's greatest supporters in the War on Terrorism. They've stopped using the phrase lately haven't they, quite amusing

That said it tells the Russians..Poland IS part of NATO now and it will be defended.

It doesn't matter what purpose those missiles are targeted to...you simply have the cheek of building military facilities nearby borders of Russian Federation....that's all.

I don't see why you'd ship a misisle all that way simply to pack it back up and run home. Especially not after the last time.

Get used to it..NATO is not done expanding. Not even close.
Big one will be the Ukraine.

You lost.

Not sure what "nuclear primacy" is, but I'm sure it's a fantasy. Russia has enough nukes to devastate the U.S., and the US has no reason at all, and plenty of reason (like not dying) not to attack Russia. The proposed system is a minimal one designed to stop a few IRBMs from Iran. As for the "Atlanticists", europe, not including the UK, has done plenty to alienate the US for a long time - it would take a lot more to convince me they are more than lip service allies. Again excepting the UK, europeans have done little with islamists except to invite them to immigrate, and NATO countries, excepting Canada, haven't lived up to their committments in afghanistan. It's the same old post world war two story - the US has to do almost everything alone.

Russia has always been an expansionist power from before the Communist times. And they will use anything in their power to force smaller Nations into their realm of influence.

Where as free thinking free trading Democratic Nations prefer to side with the US - we all depend on each other for our continued freedom and continued trade.

Thank God for US bases in Europe and missile defence screens and air defense systems - I for one (speeking as a Euroweenie) don't want to be under the politicical or economic influence of Russia.

It is a pity that some European Nato partners aren't pulling their weight in places like Afghanistan and commiting troops into action - I can only assume the US sees the bigger long-term picture that even if their commitment to European defense sometimes appears one-sided now - that it is to their and our benifit in the long run....

Better to be follow a continued defense against any possible aggression from whoever that may be -

And if Russia don't like it - then that makes me even more sure its because they would prefer a complyant defensless Europe.

Default Alienate?

What has Europe done to alienate America?

Since World War II, I mean.
