Y'know, when I read this at first, I thought that by "trade sex" they meant that men would be willing to have sex with someone for six months in order to get a TV.

Which sounds like kind of a lousy deal. I mean, even the cheapest prostitute in the world could get more than the price of a 50-inch TV after six months of sex.

Anyway, if it just means giving up sex for six months, then it makes more sense. The half of men that said they would do it were probably the half of men that figured they weren't likely to be having sex in the next six months anyway. Naturally fewer women would respond that way, since most women always have the option of having sex with somebody in the next six months, though perhaps not someone they actually want to have sex with.
