I don't know why everyone is so shocked. If a man has a hot daughter. What else can he be expected to do, besides kidnap her, lock her in a dungeon, and repeatedly rape her over 24 years!


Also to anikdote, who claimed that no one could be agianst the death penalty when reading this! I am. There is no way this guy should get death! What he should get, is he will now be locked in the dungeon he created. And a giant gay guy will rape him every day for the rest of his life!

No, because if we kill him, we will be sinning as well! Let god judge the sinners. We just need to lock him up, so he can't do this to anyone else!

I have an easier time wrapping my head around it, though. Imagine if you're a guy with a family in a country that gets invaded, and one of your daughters starts hanging out with one of the invaders. In order to avoid reprisals from your neighbors, who are probably most vehemently against the idea of anybody greeting the people who drop bombs on their children with open legs, you have to be pretty harsh with said daughter. By "cleansing honor," what the father probably means is, "demonstrating where his family's allegiances lie."

Not that that makes it even remotely okay. Or logical. Killing one's own children is just amazingly stupid no matter why you do it.

No, I read it. I was just thinking of the way it would look to the neighbors.

Like, imagine you're in the United States and we get invaded by, I dunno, Albany. A rumor goes around that your neighbor's daughter is knockin' boots with an Albanian soldier. In a patriarchal culture where the father is responsible for the actions and allegiances of his family, do you really think there wouldn't be some pretty harsh reprisals?

I totally disagree with it. It's dumb on every level. You shouldn't let your neighbors tell you who your daughter can spend time with, and that's not even getting into the whole stomping/stabbing her to death thing.

I'm just saying that I can at least sort of figure out where it could come from, why it would happen. This other thing ... locking her in a closet and raping her for decades ... that just doesn't add up. I mean, that's just torture. Ongoing torture of the person, arguably above all others, that he's supposed to be protecting. His little girl.

It's all pretty stupid.
