The War in Iraq or Afghanistan is not an issue here since both main Parties are committed to continue.

Liberals aren't doing well because they have anonymous leaders.

So long as we have a "first past the post" voting system - people will generally vote mostly for the 2 main parties. A PR system would change that.
I think we have an exit strat as well.

Lunecat as an older Labour member, and if I am around in two yrs, and as I havent much of a clue what manifesto we will fight the election on.

The great unwashed out there, appear at present like in America to want change.

It then deepend how much, at present, my thoughts are that it will be very tight( even if we obamarise Dave) the Libs may hold a very interesting 50/60 seats.

But its two yrs away, and if we get hill or obama in america that should help,
a year or so of McCain may do the trick as well.

If the arse falls any further out of the US economy, all bets are off

It will I'm sure be very tight - West Yorkshire will remain Labour you can be sure of that!
It could be a hung-Parliment as you alluded.

But if the Tories maintain their promise to meet NuLabours party member Brown's public spending 5yr plan then how are the great unwashed supposed to tell them apart?

Maybe Dave 'Obama' Campbell will charm the pants off them

The funny thing is I have some old style conservative friendswho dislike Dave and the direction he is pedaling along, up one way streets the wrong way

The grey suits in the conservative party are still to be feared.

Look at Ken Clarke and Mike Hesseltine both scared the (*)(*)(*)(*) out of us, new labour would not have existed if either one had been elected to lead the cons,
and would you compare dave with either of those big beasts, the ach/heel of the conservative blue rinsed little englander party is europe.

Im off to bed lunecat, to practise my horizontal rhumba, so goodnight

Wow, a thread on English politics! No surprise we have some people saying this "means nothing" etc. The Conservatives have made massive gains thanks to the leadership of David Cameron, more activists on the ground working hard and showing the people of this once great land we are a viable alternative to a over-spending over-taxing bunch of do gooders who have lost their own people, the working classes that is.

Question for Lunecat, how does it feel to have Alex Salmond pissing all over your mob up in Scotland?
