Yeah but the funny part is when you read the writings of "happy spinsters" they whine and cry about this "social construct" that MEN supposedly created that makes women feel bad about being such.

Men did not create that dynamic. Men are not the ones who create the social constructs of our time, women do. Women have always been brutal about enforcing their own instinctual dislikes against those who discard their own biology.

If you're happy being an asexual spinster, fine, but don't demonize the vast majority of women who find that fate abhorrent and then blame iton MEN. We didn't create that social dynamic. That is entirely reinforced by women amongst themselves. LOL\

Yes, you can have it all — a high-powered education, a high-powered career, and the perfect high-powered man to go with them. Of course, it helps if you’re willing to relax your standards a little, like by widening your pool of acceptable male partners to include the recently deceased.

I respect Stephanie Coontz as a historian, but as a forecaster of economic and romantic possibilities for women, I have to give her a thumbs-down. Coontz claims that “for a woman seeking a satisfying relationship as well as a secure economic future, there has never been a better time to be or become highly educated.” Actually, as doctorate holders “Occupying” sleeping bags outside city halls will tell you, that depends on what you’re becoming highly educated in. Ph.D. in financial engineering? Hedge fund, here you come. Ph.D. in Tibetan gender studies? You’ll be lucky to be teaching the merits of pulverized lavender in the cosmetics section of the food co-op.

Coontz is wrong again in deeming hypergamy — women’s preference for men of a higher socio-economic status — a cultural construct. The preference for the alpha male is biological, an evolutionary adaptation that exists in women across cultures — and species. (Do we really think the lady peacock wants the alpha male peacock because she’s been watching way too much “Desperate Housewives”?)

Some feminist academics claim that women only want big bucks/high status men because they lack those things themselves. But, a number of studies by evolutionary psychologists have found that women with big bucks and big jobs want men with bigger bucks and bigger jobs. Even women who are feminists. Dr. Bruce J. Ellis writes in “The Adapted Mind” that when 15 feminist leaders described their ideal man, they repeatedly used words like “very rich,” “brilliant,” and “genius” (and they didn’t mean “genius with a baby wipe!”).

So, if you’ve become the man you would’ve married in the ’50s, don’t be surprised if your mating pool starts to seem about the size of the one that comes with Barbie’s Dream House. Biology is neither fair nor kind. What those pushing feel-good sociology don’t want to believe or tell you is that you increase your options by being hot — or hotting yourself up the best you can. Obviously, looks aren’t all that matter, but while your female genes are urging you to blow past the hot pool boy to get to the moderately attractive captain of industry, men evolved to prioritize looks in women, so powerful men will date powerfully beautiful waitresses and baristas. As evolutionary psychologist Dr. David Buss writes, “Women’s physical attractiveness is the best known predictor of the occupational status of the man she marries and the best known predictor of hypergamy.”

A lack of respect for one’s spouse is definitely not the ground happy marriages are built on. That’s why settling is most wisely discussed not as some blanket policy for women, but in terms of what an individual woman wants and what she’s willing and able to give up to get it. Realistically assessing that for yourself is how you find your happiest medium — between possibly being in a panic to find a sperm donor at 42 and trying to make it work now with some guy who watches the soaps after dusting a few surfaces and drinking a few too many glasses of blush wine.

Yes, I believe that much of what feminists are fighting against are not "social constructs" but rather human EVOLUTION !

Men earn more money than women? "It must be discrimination against women!", they automatically assume.

What feminists simply fail to understand is that much of the actions of men are actually driven by the mate selection desires of women!
Men who do not possess the attributes desired by females are not as successful at passing their genes on to the next generation.
Women say the want men to do one thing, when the truth (as men all well know) is that women actually sexually desire something completely different! "Sensitive" men do not have much success getting females. The extreme of this is the small number of women that actually unconciously go around searching for men that will abuse them.

Men will stop earning more money than women when women stop preferring men who earn more money than them. It is that simple.

Also why would any man claiming to be dominant and so masculine in nature be threatened by a woman who could take care of herself, truly laughable. Sounds very childish in my opinion, most women I know do not like dating little boys.

I couldn't agree more. The bleating self-pity in this thread suggests some woman has explained exactly where the cold wind blows to some emotionally stunted manboys.

If that is her choice so be it, but I have never known there to be a shortage of men who get that a relationship takes at least two people contributing equally to make it fair.

No one ever suggested differently. We do not criticize women in general for the decisions they make. Simply the assumption by a an extremely vocal minority of women who claim to speak for all women, when in fact they speak for only themselves.

Feminism is a security blanket for beta type women. The herding instinct is very strong in these insecure people, so is the need for reassurance, and an outlet for the bitterness and frustration that results from timidity. Obsession with power, and the need to constantly top up one`s ego, are signs of the insecurity and sense of inadequacy are the hallmark of the frustrated beta type woman.

Real women don`t obsess with trivia. They don`t constantly burden their companions with their emotional hangups, and they`re fun to be with, for 21 days out of 28 at least. Real women love to be with real men, who love to be with real women, both hold whining beta types in contempt, and gain ammusement from their toxic whimperings. Real women are courageous and generous, they can endure the knocks that life hands out without becoming bitter and repulsive. They can take ownership of their mistakes and shortcommings without the need of blaming someone else when life doesn`t go their way.
