Sorry for delay. Was in Tel Aviv on business. Not much time for checking up on current world affairs I'm sad to say. But some interesting responses I must admit ...

I served 1 year in the Israeli military. I was living pretty much in the US at that point so it was my full requierment. After basic training I served mostly guard duty in Hebron and Gaza a few times. Both are not nice places that I would rather avoid if possible. I did not have the need to shoot anyone, thankfully. I will say that the tension is always there. 2 of my friends where killed by a suicide bomber while on guard post. It's a chitty chitty position that grinds on your nerves. Glad to be past it. Sorry I couldn't be more interesting in this respect. Had a friend that got stabbed so he busted the guy's face open with the butt of his M16. Hope that helps.

Fair question. Based on your personality, I would guess that your profile is meant to draw a chuckle. If so then well done ol' chap. I would guess England just because of the Oasis thing (I like some of their songs). By all means do reveal.

Agreed. I think that there are way too many people on both sides with interests other than the general good. I am, as you have surmised by now I'm certain, a Zionist. Believe simply that Jews have a right to an independent land in Israel. With that said, it does not have to be the entire land of Israel. I am all for the defense of Israel proper, but am completely opposed to the new settlements that are popping up on land that we have indicated that we will return. It's bad policy and shows us to be poor partners in the peace process. Set up the wall and help the Palestinian people. It's the only route to good neighborly relations over time. It's the only way that the violent powers that hold sway in the territories now will lose their strangle hold on the population. This force isn't just from the Palestinians, it's elements within the entire Arab/Muslem world that would like this to continue indefinately. Long story short, this is going to take some time
