one in six Puerto Ricans collect welfare disabilty that is more than any other state per population.

So if they become a state and have representatives and electoral votes which are going to be democratic, this will give them more power in politics to secure welfare benefits to the island.

However the ones that do work, do pay payroll taxes into Social Security, FICA, so I'm not sure if the island is entirely a net recipient territory

 

The racist vote switched to republicans after civil rights by lyndon johnson, that is why all the southern states vote republican. So any racist who doesn't want minorities receiving welfare, would be acclimated better with the conservative party.

Puerto Ricans have nothing to offer to the US. PR should become an independent country. If the Puerto Ricans had any balls they would strike out on their own. Buch of losers.

No the votes are not what matters. And its not the right thing to do. We need to get back on our own feet first. Get our own people working instead of leaching. That's the question the liberals won't allow us to ask. They say making PR a state will help the people who live there and that's probably true, but so what? There was a time when the Cuban people wanted statehood. This was back during the Spanish-American War when the Cubans wanted to rid themselves of the oppressive Spaniards and so did we. In their infinite wisdom, the conservatives in America said "no" which eventually turned Cuba into a Marxist state when it could have been a capitalist paradise. All I know is that statehood for Cuba would have been a (*)(*)(*)(*) side better than our current policy of purple thumbs and trying to impose democracy half way around the world.
